  • Patent number: 6948414
Abstract: The invention relates to a cutting subassembly for cutting off front and/or rear edge overhangs of panel-like workpieces. The cutting subassembly includes a saw unit which comprises a motor-driven saw blade which is mounted for displacement between a position above, and a position beneath, the workpiece. A contact element is associated with the saw blade and has at least one contact surface which may be engaged against the front or rear transverse side of the workpiece. The cutting plane of the saw blade may be oriented in alignment with the contact surface. The saw blade may be mounted such that it can be pivoted between a first operating position, in which it is oriented in alignment with the contact surface, and a second operating position, in which it is oriented obliquely in relation to the contact surface.

  • Publication number: 20030116005
Abstract: The invention relates to a cutting subassembly for machines by means of which panel-like workpieces which are moved continuously in a rectilinear manner are machined in order for front and/or rear edge overhangs to be cut off, having a saw unit which comprises a motor-driven saw blade and is mounted such that it can be displaced between a position above, and a position beneath, the workpiece, and having a contact element which is associated with the saw blade and has at least one contact surface, it being possible for the contact surface to be engaged against the front or rear transverse side of the workpiece and for the cutting plane of the saw blade to be oriented in alignment with the contact surface.

  • Patent number: 5803682
Abstract: In an edge gluing machine, a milling device (6) with a rotating milling tool (9) is provided for shaping the corners (7,8) of the projecting edge bands (14), its pivoting device (11) being arranged on a vertically adjustable housing (15). During the adjustment of the bridge (2) to the respective thickness of workpiece (3), the housing (15) is adjusted vertically by a displacing member (18) and by means of a limit switch (28,29) such that the pivot axis (11') of pivoting device (11) is located in the center of workpiece (3). A linear path control activatable by a light barrier causes the milling tool (9) to be positioned at half the thickness of the workpiece from the leading or trailing narrow surface of workpiece (3). The position of the pivot axis (11') is thereby determined such that a perfect machining of the corners (7,8) is ensured.

  • Patent number: 4441450
Abstract: An apparatus for melting and applying meltable adhesive, especially in combination with edge gluing machines for continuously advancing work pieces, includes a melting chamber (4) for the meltable granular adhesive material. The melting chamber is equipped with a heatable melting insert (5). A supply container (17) for the solid meltable granular adhesive material (18) is arranged to open into the melting chamber (4). A power driven closure slide (13) is arranged between the melting chamber (4) and the supply container (17) for the granular adhesive material. The closure slide (13) is operated in such a manner that filling the melting chamber (4) with granular adhesive material (18) is free of trouble and the adhesive material may be properly processed without any difficulties, especially without any jamming.

  • Patent number: 4418640
Abstract: The applicator for applying adhesive to a work piece, for example in an edge glueing machine for work pieces moving continuously through the machine, has adhesive discharge holes (6). The adhesive is supplied through these holes (6) under pressure to the edge of work pieces. Any contaminating particles, which may be present in the adhesive prior to its application to the work piece, tend to travel upwardly with the adhesive in the adhesive supply conduit (2, 4), due to their lower specific weight, whereby the contaminations may clog the discharge holes (6) and prevent the proper application of adhesive to a work piece. For avoiding such clogging the nozzle body (1) is provided with a scavenging duct (5) which is connectable to the adhesive supply conduit (2, 4) for repeatedly passing a portion of adhesive out of the supply conduit (4), whereby the application of adhesive may be performed without any trouble. The discharge holes (6) are closed during the scavenging of a small portion of adhesive.
