  • Patent number: 5228522
Abstract: A agricultural implement incorporates a frame which is adapted to engage a three point hitch of a tractor. The frame employs a longitudinally extending member which is pivotally connected to a link member. A resilient yielding assembly is disposed between the longitudinally extending member and the link member to absorb forces exerted from the link member onto the longitudinally extended member. Accordingly, when the link is acted upon by forces which cause the link to exert a stress on the three point hitch of a tractor, the resilient yielding assembly allows the first link to pivot about the longitudinal member thereby reducing compressive loads exerted on the upper link of the tractor's three point hitch.

  • Patent number: 5111785
Abstract: Fluid pressures in an internal combustion engine are monitored by two diaphragm operated valves and open either valve when abnormal pressures are sensed to shut down the engine. Each valve is a sleeve valve slidable on a stem and normally latched to the stem. The stem carries a reset button and is spring biased to hold the valve in closed position. A valve is released from the stem when abnormal pressures are detected and the valve is spring biased to the open position. If the reset button is held in to override the protective function, the latch release and valve opening will still occur.

  • Patent number: 4819737
Abstract: A row crop cultivator particularly adapted for ridge-hill and minimum tillage farming conditions. The cultivator carries a number of tools including spaced hilling disks, a coulter wheel and a sweep for effectively pitching soil and cutting crop residues and weeds between the planted rows. A gauge wheel assembly is provided for controlling the depth of penetration of the tools into the soil. The gauge wheel assembly includes a pair of elongated arms pivotally connected between a pair of parallel plates on the cultivator frame. Series of vertically spaced adjustment holes are formed in the plates and a pin member is selectively insertable in any aligned pair of holes to limit pivotal movement of the gauge wheel arms the elevation of the gauge wheel relative to the frame. The gauge wheel adjustments are easily made by hand in the field without the use of tools.

  • Patent number: 4766962
Abstract: A furrow forming apparatus for a seed planter is disclosed wherein the construction facilitates convenient adjustment of spring-biasing exerted on furrow forming disks of the assembly. The apparatus includes a parallel linkage which permits relative vertical movement of the disks. Springs operatively associated with the linkage are positionable for creating either downward or upward pressure on the disks. Adjustment of the springs is accommodated by the provision of an upper support rod which receives upper ends of the springs, with the support rod selectively positionable along upper links of the parallel linkage by the provision of an adjustable rack and pinion mounting arrangement.

  • Patent number: 4758119
Abstract: A seed hopper construction for use in connection with rotary drum seed planter requiring positive pressure for its seed metering operation. The hopper comprises a tapering bottom wall with an opening therein and an internal duct associated with said wall and opening. A deformable tubular diaphragm valve is positioned in the duct and projects from the opening in the bottom wall. A vertical air pressure tube is mounted in the hopper and carries a two-position valve for directing air into the hopper or to the diaphragm valve. The pressure tube also has a bottom air inlet depending from the bottom wall. A centrifugal blower having a positive pressure side outlet communicates with the pressure tube air inlet and the seed drum. The blower has a negative pressure central opening in spaced registry with the diaphragm valve.

  • Patent number: 4496004
Abstract: This invention teaches an improved collapsible farm implement of the type having a wheeled frame or cart and right and left side elongated toolbars pivoted at their inboard ends about vertical axes relative to the frame so as to allow toolbar rotation rearward through approximately a quarter turn between a fully elevated field use position disposed crosswise to the path of implement travel and a road transit position disposed parallel to the path of implement travel. A wheeled truck assembly is mounted near the outboard end of each toolbar for providing rolling support of the latter, and each wheeled truck assembly can be rotated relative to the toolbar about an axis disposed substantially normal to the toolbar through approximately a quarter turn operable to steer the outboard end of the toolbar, upon appropriate forward or rearward implement movement, between the respective fully elevated field use and road transit positions.

  • Patent number: 4398478
Abstract: An apparatus that includes a frame supported pair of rotatably mounted furrow forming disks, a seed tube extending between the disks for depositing seed in a furrow, a pair of individually mounted and frame supported gauge wheel structures, each structure including a support pivotally mounted on said frame, a wheel located generally adjacent an outer surface of a disk and rotatably mounted on the support, adjustment structure for moving the supports and thus said wheels to vary furrow depth, and a furrow closing and seed soil contact assembly, said assembly including arm structure pivotally mounted on said frame and extending rearwardly to rotatably support furrow closing and seed soil contact structure rearward of the disks and a spring connected to the frame above the arm structure pivot and to the arm structure below and forward of the pivot, the spring biasing the furrow closing and seed soil contact structure downwardly with the same increase of force on the soil with the same increase in furrow depth fo

  • Patent number: 4128191
Abstract: An improved pneumatic material dispenser of the type wherein material is dropped from the periphery of a rotating element into adjacent axially spaced material collecting passages of a collector and an air supply propels the material through discharge tubes attached to the collector to remote locations, the improvement being a plenum chamber which receives the air supply and feeds it to the collecting passages through air passages at a point remote from the material entry thereinto.
