Abstract: The brewing unit comprises: a support (5); a drawer (7), presenting at least a seat for a single serving package (C), slidable with respect to the support and movable between a loading position of the single serving package and a brewing position; a dispensing member (23) to dispense pressurized water to the single serving package. A control lever (9) is provided to control the movement of the drawer (7). A mechanical connection is also provided between the lever and the drawer and between the lever and the dispensing member, so that operation of the lever causes the drawer to move from the loading position to the brewing position and the dispensing member to rest against the single serving package.

Abstract: The brewing unit comprises a seat (19) having a rotation movement, in which a piston is slidably received (13). A counter-piston (41) co-operates with the seat and the piston to define a brewing chamber. Moreover provided are cam members (25, 45) for controlling the movements of the seat, of the piston, and of the counter-piston. The seat, the piston and the counter-piston can assume with respect to one another at least one position of charging of a product for preparation of the beverage, at least two distinct brewing positions to which there correspond two different volumes of the brewing chamber, and a position for discharge in the sent product.

Abstract: An apparatus for the preparation of hot beverages by brewing a water-extractable particulate substance includes a delivery pump (5), water heater (6), brewing area (36) and beverage outlet (7). The apparatus comprises a delivery member in the form of a screw shaft (10) provided with at least one flight (13) by means of which the particulate substance is delivered into and out of the brewing area (36) in one and the same direction. An extraction area (37) is provided downstream of the brewing area (36) in which the substance is compacted by the screw shaft (10) and thereby the essence of the substance extracted or the substance is additionally extracted. This is achieved by the pitch of the flights (13) in the region of the extraction zone (25) being smaller than in the region of the brewing zone (24).
