  • Patent number: 6439273
Abstract: A method and apparatus for cleaning candles in a candle filter using a cleaning fluid that flows inside the candle from the side of the filtrate, whereby said fluid is pressed in an opposite direction to the direction of the filtrate from the inside to the outside, through said candles, by a gaseous medium subjected to an overpressure. Water is or can be used as an appropriate cleaning fluid and air is used as a gaseous medium. The prior art teaches nozzle-shaped contractions that are respectively disposed on the outlet end of the candles or deflectors arranged inside the candle at a distance from said contractions, whereby the in-flowing cleaning fluid is deflected towards all sides in the direction of the inner walls of the candles, are provided for distribution of said cleaning fluid.

  • Patent number: 6365054
Abstract: A method of operating a plant for filling containers by moving a liquid such as water through an apparatus with at least one portion for receiving the liquid before it is filtered and at least one portion for receiving the liquid after it is filtered, so that the liquid moves from at least an upper area of apparatus to lower area of the apparatus to be transferred to bottles or other containers.

  • Patent number: 4550029
Abstract: Continuous pressure boiling of beer wort is carried out in a multistage column having an upright inner wall enclosing a head region near the top of the column, a sump region near the bottom of the column and a wort compartment between the head and sump regions. The wort compartment includes a plurality of superposed, substantially horizontal plates. Each plate is provided with an overflow weir on its upper surface with an opening between the overflow weir and the wall of the column. Regenerative preheated wort is charged onto an upper plate and flows downward from one plate to another over the overflow weirs and through the openings. A heated gaseous medium introduced into the sump region raises through the openings and heats the downward flowing wort to boiling temperature to degas and free the wort from undesirable foreign substances. Vapors from the wort are condensed in the head region and discharged, and the processed wort is discharged from the sump region.

  • Patent number: 4376109
Abstract: Process and apparatus for disposal of noxious vapors emanating in brewery installations from treatment of wort and mash during the production of beer and for recovery of excess energy therefrom which includes passing the vapors emanating from the treatment of wort through a first condenser, passing the vapors emanating from the treatment of mash through a second condenser, and passing at least part of the exhaust emitted from the first condenser through the second condenser.

  • Patent number: 4324264
Abstract: In a bottle cleaning operation, bottles to be cleaned are introduced into a machine housing divided into a first housing and a separate second housing intercommunicating with one another through a bottle transfer section. Bottles are introduced into carrier compartments mounted on a first endless circulating chain in the first housing. After undergoing certain cleaning procedures in the first housing, the bottles are transferred into the second housing with the bottles passing in a free-falling manner from the first circulating chain. Within the second housing the cleaning operation is continued with the bottles held in carrier compartments on a second endless circulating chain. After being treated within the second housing, the bottles free-fall from the second circulating chain and return into the first housing for completing the cleaning operation before the bottles are discharged from the first housing.
