  • Patent number: 5127381
Abstract: A fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines includes a cylinder sleeve having a first bore and a damping space communicating with the suction space of the pump, and plunger having a smaller diameter portion extending into the bore and displaceable therein to effect delivery of fuel to the internal combustion engine. The fuel injection pump further includes a cam drive for displacing the plunger and a return spring for biasing the plunger to an initial suction position thereof and into engagement with the cam drive. The plunger has a larger diameter portion extendable into the damping space during a delivery stroke for adjusting a volume of the damping space and defining at an end of the delivery stroke, a throttle gap that forms a sole connection between the dampening space and the suction space of the pump.

  • Patent number: 4884542
Abstract: In a fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines for motor vehicles, a damping device is provided to eliminate so-called vehicle bucking. The device allows rapid adjusting movements of an rpm adjusting lever, which is connected to the driving lever, to affect the supply quantity setting of the fuel injection pump only with a delay. To this end, the damping device has a damping chamber defined by a damping cylinder and a damping piston displaceable therein. The damping chamber communicates with the pump interior via two parallel throttles and via counter-parallel check valves located in series with the parallel throttles. The damping piston is connected to a damper lever on which the rpm adjusting lever is supported via a pre-stressed drag spring.

  • Patent number: 4621601
Abstract: A fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines having an arbitrarily actuatable adjustment lever, the movement of which lever is fed as a set-point variable to an rpm governor for the purpose of fuel metering. Between the arbitrary adjustment and its intervention with the rpm governor, for example on the governor spring, there is a coupling device which has a nonlinear relationship between the arbitrary adjustment and the degree of intervention with the rpm governor. This coupling device for generating the nonlinear relationship has a unilateral lever supported in a stationary manner and having an oblong slot in its longitudinal axis, in which slot a guide element, attached to an adjusting device such as an auxiliary adjusting lever to arranged to slide. The arbitrary adjustment engages the adjusting device, and the lever acts upon the rpm governor.
