  • Publication number: 20130012290
Abstract: A game involves obtaining a database of items, each item representing pictural work image data, together with descriptor parameters for the pictural work, with each descriptor parameter being predefined, selecting at least one criterion constituted by one of the descriptor parameters, drawing at least one item randomly from the database, and displaying the pictural work image data represented by the randomly drawn item on a player's terminal.

  • Publication number: 20120088583
Abstract: The game comprises game sessions including: submitting a representation of a pictorial work; making an input field available to each player; each player giving a title to the pictorial work shown; and collecting and storing the title given by the player. The game may be implemented in particular by computer means comprising a remote game site communicating with terminals used by the players, in particular within an application for accessing and dialoguing with a social network. The site displays a plurality of titles that have already been given by other players to a work that is displayed, and a player quantifies preferences for those titles either by a binary “like/unlike” type evaluation or by putting them into an order of preference. The site generates a chart ranking the titles that have already been given as a function of the quantified evaluations as transmitted in this way.

  • Patent number: 8007364
Abstract: An on-line game site involves a question engine coupled with a plurality of terminals controlled by respective players, for (i) sending predefined questions to the players, receiving answers to the questions from the players, and awarding prizes to the players over a given period of time as a function of the answers received, an activity measured by a traffic index representative of the number of players that have played the game over a given time interval, (ii) displaying, together with the questions sent to the players, paid-for advertising insertions, established on the base of a given rate, (iii) evaluating the receipts associated with the paid-for advertising insertions, (iv) establishing an endowment for the prizes to be awarded players over a given period of time, the endowment being a function of the level of the receipts, and (v) repeatedly increasing the endowment corresponding to an increase in the receipts resulting from an increase in the traffic index.

  • Patent number: 7980930
Abstract: A game session of the invention comprises, contained within a very short time lapse, the following successive stages: a) selecting a headword that is communicated to the player; b) for each of the N players, determining a first candidate word presenting semantic proximity with the headword, and transmitting said first candidate word to the gaming site, which submits it to a search engine in combination with the headword in order to receive a numerical score; c) presenting the N first candidate words submitted to the site by the various players and then, for each player, selecting from amongst these N words a second candidate word that, on reflection, the player believes represents that one of the first candidate words that corresponds to the highest score obtained during the first game stage.

  • Patent number: 7963850
Abstract: An on-line-game method involves a question engine coupled to a plurality of terminals controlled by game players, with game activity measured by a traffic index representative of the number of game players over a given time interval, a) displaying on the terminals questions, sent by the question engine, relating to a success parameter concerning at least one future event and advertising insertions paid for at a given tariff, b) evaluating receipts associated with the paid-for advertising insertions, c) setting up an endowment for allocating prizes over a given time period, the endowment being a function of the level of the receipts, d) on detecting an increase in the traffic index above a given threshold, correspondingly increasing the tariff, e) on detecting an increase in the receipts above another given threshold, correspondingly increasing the endowment, and f) repeating steps d) and e).

  • Publication number: 20090227305
Abstract: The invention implements an on-line game in which a population of players is connected to an on-line game site. From a starting word submitted by the site, the players search for additional words that, when combined with the starting word, maximize the number of occurrences of the combination of words when said combination is submitted to a search engine. The game is implemented by: i) introducing as the head word the particular word for which advertising designers seek to test the impact; and ii) using the results of the game, i.e. the additional words found and submitted to the site by the players, as a result for evaluating the impact of the head word.

  • Publication number: 20090191969
Abstract: The invention is implemented by a computer system comprising a game site administering a collective on-line game between a plurality of players, and a plurality of terminals available to the respective players. The method comprises at least one game session comprising steps consisting in: a) selecting a first sub-population of adversary-players and a second sub-population of spectator-players; b) beginning a game between the adversary-players; c) authorizing adversary-players to place a series of bets; d) communicating parameters descriptive of the play of the game to the spectator-players; e) authorizing the spectator-players to place a series of bets distinct from the bets placed by the adversary-players; and f) at the end of a game, awarding a score to each player as a function of predefined criteria and as a function of the result of the game and of the bets placed by each player; said awarding being performed differently amongst the adversary-players and amongst the spectator-players.

  • Publication number: 20080293480
Abstract: The on-line forecasting site comprises a question engine coupled with a plurality of terminals controlled by respective players. In response to a question relating to a success parameter for a future event, the players make forecasts about the success parameter. After the event has occurred, the site evaluates the forecasts and awards prizes to respective players, where appropriate. The activity of the site is measured by a traffic index representative of the number of players who have participated in the game during a given time interval.

  • Publication number: 20080113801
Abstract: The game uses a computer system with a gaming site coupled to gaming terminals. A search engine receives requests containing a starting word or a combination of a starting word and an additional word, and responds by delivering a numerical score representative of the number of web page hits found. Winning points are allocated to the player finding the additional word which, in combination with the starting word, produces the highest possible score. In a preferred implementation of the game, the starting word is a trademark, thus making it possible to incorporate branding content, and thereby provide an original method of advertising that ensures privileged exposure of the trademark with the actual wording of the trademark constituting one of the essential parameters of the game. The terminal and the players can be installed in a television studio and successive sessions of the game can be broadcast. The terminal could also be a cell phone or a personal computer remotely connected to the gaming site.

  • Publication number: 20070072672
Abstract: A computer-implemented game including at least one terminal controlled by a player, a remote game site coupled to each of the terminals, and a search engine. The terminal and the site are designed to apply a request to the search engine, the request containing a word or a combination of words, and to receive therefrom in response a numerical score representative of the number of hits for the word or the combination of words in a set of web pages indexed by the search engine. Players add additional words to the search terms in an effort to reduce the numerical score to a desired target value or target range of values without falling below that value or range. Prizes are awarded on the basis of the number of words needed to reach the target, the time required, or other suitable criteria.

  • Publication number: 20060281510
Abstract: A computer-implemented question and answer game based on using opinion polls that have already been carried out on a representative sample of people. Results of the opinion polls and predefined questions are stored in a knowledge base associated with the system, which is typically implemented on an Internet site. Players connecting via the Internet are asked to guess what they think the opinion poll results were, and are scored by the computer-implemented system according to the correspondence between their guesses and the information stored in the knowledge base, with prizes being distributed on the basis of the score.

  • Patent number: 6325293
Abstract: The method comprises the steps of: coupling the card (24) as initially configured for the default application, with a terminal (14) of the default application, executing a special transaction for reconfiguring the software of the card for the target application so that the card as reconfigured in this way emulates a card specific to the target application; coupling the card as reconfigured in this way with a terminal (18) of the target application; and executing a transaction of the target application. Subsequently, the card as reconfigured for the target application can be coupled with a terminal of the default application, and another special transaction can be executed to return the card to its software configuration for the default application. In particular, the default application can be a SIM card application for GSM radiotelephony, and the target application can be a token-carrier type application.
