  • Patent number: 9113061
Abstract: A clip-on sight that includes a sight housing, a lens, a sensor, a display, a module, and a plurality of buttons positioned on the sight housing is disclosed. The module is designed to display an alignment reticle on the display and move the alignment reticle to an electronic zoom center point in response to the buttons. The electronic zoom center point is stored in memory and serves as the center point when the clip-on sight is zoomed in from an un-zoomed (1.0×) zoom to a 2.0× zoom. A method of aligning a clip-on sight is also disclosed. To align the clip-on sight, a user activates the user menu, activates an alignment reticle on the display of the clip-on sight, sets the electronic zoom center point by moving the alignment reticle to the electronic zoom center point.

  • Patent number: 9069172
Abstract: A multi-mode sight includes an optical sight that provides a direct view image of an aiming point or reticle superimposed on a target scene. The optical sight includes a single optical path defined through the sight comprising a direct view and overlay path. A thermal imager provides a monochromic thermal image of the target scene. A single combiner is located in the optical path and passes the direct view image and reflects the thermal image to overlay the thermal image onto the direct view image for an operator to see as a superimposed thermal and direct view optical image of the target scene together with the aiming point or reticle.

  • Publication number: 20060116046
Abstract: A backframe may be utilized to align a plurality of emissive display tiles precisely with respect to one another. The individual display tiles may be removable from the backframe for replacement or other reasons. As a result, the spacing between individual tiles in an overall large format display may be precisely controlled in some cases. In addition, regularly occurring gaps between adjacent tiles may be filled with a suitable light absorbing material to reduce the visibility of seams.

  • Publication number: 20060066805
Abstract: According to embodiments of the present invention, a retarder for a liquid crystal on silicon microdisplay cell may include a twisted nematic cell sandwiched between index of refraction matching layers, isotropic material (for example, glass) disposed on the top and bottom index matching layers and antireflective material disposed on the top and bottom isotropic layers. In one embodiment, the retarder includes a fast axis oriented substantially ninety degrees out of phase relative to a fast axis of the residual retardance of the liquid crystal on silicon microdisplay cell.
