Publication number: 20120294114Abstract: Sensor and communications systems are disclosed for communicating measurements from subsea equipment, such as at an offshore well, to the surface. A sensor for a physical parameter, such as pressure or temperature at a blowout preventer, capping stack, or conduit in communication with the same, is electrically connected to a subsea acoustic transponder. An acoustic communications device, for example an acoustic transducer and transceiver electronics deployed on a remotely-operated vehicle, interrogates the acoustic transponder with an acoustic signal, in response to which the acoustic transponder transmits an acoustic signal encoded with the measurement. The acquired measurement data are then communicated to a redundant network at the surface. The sensor and acoustic transponder systems can be installed after an event at the subsea equipment, such as blowout of the well.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 20, 2012Publication date: November 22, 2012Applicants: BP EXPLORATION OPERATING COMPANY LIMITED, BP CORPORATION NORTH AMERICA INC.Inventors: Matt Gochnour, Adam Dudley Lawrence Hudson, Roland Peter Sauermann, Jonathan Peter Davis, Douglas Graham Wood, Christopher John Curran

Patent number: 7523983Abstract: A safety braking device for a sliding roof cover that is moved in translation along vehicle-fixed guides includes at least one braking element that is coupled with the sliding roof cover, and which in normal operation moves together with the sliding roof cover in translation along an associated guide. A coupling piece is movable with the sliding roof cover and makes a connection between the sliding roof cover and the braking element. The coupling piece extends into the braking element. The coupling piece displaces in the braking element upon an abrupt acceleration of the sliding roof cover relative to the guide, and deforms the braking element such that the braking element and the associated guide are jammed to prohibit further movement of the sliding roof cover along the associated guide.Type: GrantFiled: August 28, 2007Date of Patent: April 28, 2009Assignee: ArvinMeritor Technology, LLCInventors: Roland Peter, Morton Ketelsen

Publication number: 20080196057Abstract: The invention describes an apparatus, system and related method that allow a guest user to create a private personal virtual channel. The apparatus includes a user interface (8) whereby an authorized apparatus user can make an invitation to a guest user. The authorized apparatus user can also set expiry conditions (19). The apparatus can exchange guest user specific data (2, 3, 4) via user interface (8), via a data carrier (18), or via a network (17) with an equivalent apparatus in the system. The private user specific data (2, 3, 4) is concealed using a concealment unit (14). A control unit (13) works in combination with a processing unit (11) and the concealment unit (14) to conceal recorded content based upon guest user preferences and presents the concealed recorded content to the guest user alone as a continuous sequence of content via display (15) emulating a traditional broadcasted channel.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 20, 2006Publication date: August 14, 2008Applicant: KONINKLIJKE PHILIPS ELECTRONICS, N.V.Inventors: Hong R. Publication number: 20060257709Abstract: Until now, additional components such as afterburners, reformers or heat exchangers are arranged as separate units and, as a rule, are connected to the high-temperature fuel cell stack by means of pipes. The disadvantage of this construction method is that it requires a large constructional volume and high investment costs to install said components. The invention relates to a high-temperature fuel cell system that is modularly built, wherein the additional components are advantageously and directly arranged in the high-temperature fuel cell stack. The geometry of the components is matched to the stack. Additional pipeworking is thereby no longer necessary, the style of construction method is very compact and the direct connection of the components to the stack additionally leads to more efficient use of heat.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 10, 2004Publication date: November 16, 2006Inventors: Ludger Blum, Roland Peters

Publication number: 20060075238Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for processing an analog signal. The method involves hiding a digital watermark signal in the analog signal by combining the watermark signal with the analog signal (103). The watermark signal may be detected and extracted by a device (108) receiving the analog signal. The method includes embedding a key in the watermark signal, such that the key may be extracted and used by an encoding device (108) for encrypting digital content that is based on the analog signal. The invention also relates to an encoding device, which is arranged to perform such encryption.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 14, 2003Publication date: April 6, 2006Applicant: Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V.Inventors: Roland Peter Jan Manders, Gerardus Vervoort, Eric Wilhelmus Moors
