  • Publication number: 20200050020
Abstract: A computer-implemented method of determining a base curve value representing a base curve for a front surface of a spectacle lens is disclosed. The method includes receiving individual prescription data and determining the base curve value for the front surface of the spectacle lens based on the prescription data. In particular, the base curve value is calculated from the received prescription data based on a functional relationship between one or more values included in the prescription data and the base curve value.

  • Patent number: 10007128
Abstract: A device and a method for establishing a target design are disclosed. A generator generates a graphical representation of a starting target design and displays it on a display. A user directly manipulates a graphical representation of the starting target design displayed on the display through the graphical user interface. The graphical representation of the manipulated starting target design is updated and displayed on the display.

  • Patent number: 9022565
Abstract: A method and an apparatus serve for checking the centering of spectacles worn by a spectacle wearer. The method comprises the steps of: a) measuring spectacle lenses mounted in a frame of the spectacles, wherein a position of permanent markings on the spectacle lenses is acquired relative to a coordinate system defined by the frame by means of an image recognition system; b) determining positions of nominal centering points, prescribed in a file, of the spectacle lenses in dependence on data of the spectacle lenses containing the position of the permanent markings; c) measuring physiological data of a spectacle wearer wearing the spectacles and determining positions of actual centering points of the spectacle lenses from the physiological data by means of a video centering instrument; d) determining the difference between the positions of the nominal centering points and the actual centering points; and e) comparing the difference to a prescribed difference threshold.

  • Publication number: 20030111776
Abstract: The present invention provides a composition of reinforced polyamide (PA) for use in a cooling circuit of an engine. The composition may be processed by a gas injection technique (GIT) into shaped parts having smooth inner surfaces and a good hydrolytic stability against cooling medium such as glycol/water mixtures.

  • Patent number: 6461704
Abstract: A window panel for use in automotive glazing applications is described, in which inner planer piece transparent plastic is bonded to an outer piece molded from an opaque plastic creating a masking border. The two pieces have overlapping portions, and may be of reduced or tapering thickness to create a transition masking zone of reduced or varying opacity. The inner piece may be designed to separate from the outer piece at a lower impact force than that required to fracture the pieces to establish a prescribed failure mode. The window panel may be formed by a two shot molding process in which the inner and outer pieces are molded respectively to increase the overall window panel size beyond that able to be molded by a one shot process.

  • Patent number: 5544186
Abstract: A gas laser 1 such as a .sup.13 CO.sub.2 -laser emits at two different wavelengths (.lambda..sub.1, .lambda..sub.2) with a sine-shaped adjustment of a resonator mirror or a grating 13 such as a Littrow grating. The gas laser emits radiation at the two desired wavelengths (.lambda..sub.1, .lambda..sub.2) in two mutually adjacent intervals of the resonator length L because of a suitable dimensioning of the grating 13 with respect to grating structure and angle position, the outcoupling factor of the outcoupling mirror 12, the resonator length L and the composition of the gas of the laser. The laser emission is inhibited at the crossover between the two intervals and the sine-shaped modulation (for example with a piezo element) of the resonator length L is essentially symmetrical about this crossover. The invention is also directed to an arrangement for detecting a substance such as NH.sub.3 in a flue gas.

  • Patent number: 5394871
Abstract: A medical diagnostics installation comprises components for portraying an examination region on a monitor and includes an operating unit which is spatially spaced from the monitor and has a control unit, either a sensor field, a joystick or a key field, for acting on a data processor for controlling the components. The data processor includes a data store that contains data corresponding to different operating menus, and these menus are capable of being called in via the operating unit and are displayed on the monitor. At least one operating condition of the medical diagnostics installation can be produced by the operating unit and the operating menus correspond to the operating conditions being displayed on the monitor are only the operating functions required for this operating condition. The operating functions are controllable via a mark or cursor which is controlled by either the sensor field, joystick or key field.

  • Patent number: 5106283
Abstract: An apparatus for injection molding of plastics material in accordance with a gas or liquid injection method. The apparatus includes a nozzle which can be applied to the injection molding die or the injection mold. This nozzle enables selectively the sole injection of plastics material melt, the simultaneous injection of plastics material melt and medium as well as the sole injection of medium into the mold cavity of the injection molding die or injection mold. The melt is supplied to the nozzle mouth by the extruder screw cylinder of the extruder around a nozzle torpedo, while the medium is introduced into the nozzle so as to be spaced from the nozzle mouth.

  • Patent number: 5052622
Abstract: In a sprinkler (1), the water distributors (10) for supplying the spray nozzles (13, 14, 15) is formed by a separate main channel (15) inserted in a spray nozzle casing (2) and having relatively small flow cross-sections compared with the casing cross-sections, which is also constructed in one piece with the spray nozzles (13, 14, 15), so that the spray nozzle casing (2) does not have to be used for water distribution purposes and can instead merely serve as a support casing. Of the spray nozzles arranged in a row, those which are located at the end of the row can be individually manually disconnected with separate check valves (36), so that in simple manner it is possible to adjust the width of the exiting water curtain within certain limits.

  • Patent number: 4572235
Abstract: A device for adding a solid additive to a liquid has a liquid inlet, a liquid outlet and a receiving container for the solid additive in the form of a tablet or bar. The tablet or bar is hollow, being shaped like a cylindrical ring. The liquid is moved axially past the inner surface and outer surface of the cylindrical ring, and during wearing away of additive material, there is a reduction in the size of the outer surface and a corresponding increase in the size of the inner surface. Therefore, the overall surface area remains constant, which leads to constant admixing. Preferably, an inner tube spaced from the inner surfaces of the additive discharges liquid for flow across the inner and outer surfaces in the same direction.

  • Patent number: 4543570
Abstract: Instead of monitoring a thermal deburring operation by reference to whether a certain high temperature is reached and thereby indicting whether a successful ignition in the deburring chamber has taken place at every step of operation of the chamber, a circuit responsive to the rate of change of temperature is used to recognize a successful operation, thus permitting faster operation of the apparatus. Such a circuit is also useful for rapid detection of a short circuit circuit in electrochemical apparatus utilizing heavy electrical currents and variable amounts. In the latter case a digital circuit for measuring the amount of change at equal intervals of time is particularly useful.
