  • Patent number: 6276174
Abstract: A method for the production of a knitted material and a warp knitting machine for realizing the method is being described by which longitudinal conveyors are driven in such a manner so that the longitudinal conveyors are driven at least partially intermittently and/or continuously with at least at times varying speeds so that the weft threads are being guided into the area of the knitting needles according to a pattern and at arbitrary points in time and one after the other in arbitrarily desired numbers which will result in an indefinitely long and freely selectable weft thread pattern repeat. According to a further aspect of the invention an arrangement is being described in which the arrangement includes a warp knitting machine having a separate frame.

  • Patent number: 6250117
Abstract: A warp knitted fabric is disclosed having large grid openings formed by biaxially arranged stay- and weft threads. Also disclosed is a method of making the fabric. The method involves providing stay threads and weft threads which are bound to each other by stitches provided by warp threads. The number of stitches per unit length within a repeat and in the spacing between the crossing areas of the stay- and the weft threads is at least partially smaller than within the crossing areas themselves.

  • Patent number: 4872323
Abstract: An apparatus for laying groups of transverse weft threads for a warp knitting machine, the threads being laid on two longitudinal conveyors running to the needle bed by means of a carriage which is reciprocated between and transversely to the direction of travel of the longitudinal conveyors. The weft threads laid after the forward movement lie parallel to the weft threads laid after the backward movement and with the same spacing from the adjacent weft thread in each case. First groups of weft threads are laid as a first layer and then groups of weft threads are laid as a second layer on the first layer in a direction of their weft threads which forms, with the direction of the weft threads of the first layer, and angle, particularly of at least 20.degree., which opens transversely to the direction of travel of the longitudinal conveyors.

  • Patent number: 4823563
Abstract: A warp knitting machine has several guide bars (15), which are suspended over the needles (1) from a bridge-like cross-beam (26) and has pile forming instruments (11) on a pile instrument bar (12). The latter is offset from the beam (26) and arranged below the guide bar operating zone. In this way the fabric can be knitted with pile loops according to a pattern.

  • Patent number: 4823564
Abstract: The weft threads (10) are clamped in weft thread hooks (12) supported on longitudinal conveyors (43, 44) extending perpendicular to and adjacent opposite ends of a row of knitting needles (42) by means of clamping slides (20) mounted on the longitudinal conveyors (43, 44). The clamping slides (20) are supported for sliding movement in a perpendicular direction relative to the movement of the longitudinal conveyors (43, 44) and are movable between an inactive, retracted position away from the hooks (12) through a placement zone (E) and an active position pressed against the hooks (12) and the weft threads (10) as the longitudinal conveyors (43, 44) move through a clamping zone (K) extending both upstream and downstream of the row of knitting needles (42).

  • Patent number: 4754617
Abstract: Process for the production of a warp knit fabric with a basic material including a tricot stitch ground and a chain stitch ground as well as a pile laid over pile sinkers, forming pile loops which are knitted into the material. The pile sinkers are offset relative to their pile sinker bar by one needle division per stitch row so that the tricot ground can be formed. The chain stitch ground yarns form a loop only every other stitch row so that the looping is let out in the formation of the chain stitch ground once the yarn which forms the chain stitch ground has been displaced laterally by the pile sinker bar.

  • Patent number: 4723424
Abstract: This invention relates to a stitch-bonding warp knitting machine and a process for operating it. The stitch-bonding warp knitting machine comprises a plurality of knitting needles that pierce a continuously conveyed band of material. The knitting needles are driven by two different reciprocating motions, one of which reciprocates the needles along their longitudinal axis and the other of which swivels said knitting needles about an axis. The invention also includes means for continuously conveying a band of material through a point in the path of said reciprocating knitting needles. The reciprocating action of the needles and the swivelling action about an axis remote from the point that said band of material passes is such that said knitting needles pierce said band of material and at the same time move in a transverse direction in the direction that said band of material is moving and at the same speed of movement all of the time that said needles are penetrating through said band of material.

  • Patent number: 4706475
Abstract: This invention relates to a warp knitting machine which is equipped with two longitudinal conveyors for conveying weft yarn groups towards a knitting head. The longitudinal conveyors comprise a plurality of hooks for engaging and holding the weft yarns and a weft yarn carriage is provided for laying the groups of weft yarns from one conveyor to the other. Each of the conveyors are provided with a depressing mechanism which includes a depressor which has an inactive position, an intermediate position and a depressing position. Means are provided for moving the depressor from the inactive position to an immediate position extending over a group of weft yarns laid between the hooks on one of the conveyors. Another means is provided for lowering the depressor from the intermediate position to the depressing position to depress the group of yarns into the hooks of the conveyor and for holding them there until the weft yarns are securely engaged in the hooks.

  • Patent number: 4363224
Abstract: A warp knitting machine is disclosed as including slider needles, each of which has a needle shank of channel form with a hook head and a slider that covers the hook opening of the needle shank by means of a cover member fitted on the slider shank, such cover member is shorter than the hook opening of the needle shank, and the slider has such a cross-section that it carries the stitch in each instance without being supported on the needle shank and/or the hook head.

  • Patent number: 4003222
Abstract: A warp knitting machine is adapted for the production of looped fabric by providing filler sinkers to supply filler threads extending over the entire width of the machine in parallel relationship. The filler threads arrive consecutively at the needle zone, and basic fabric and loops are produced simultaneously using warp threads and pile yarn, respectively. The filler sinkers perform a substantially rectangular movement ensuring a fail-safe operation with high operating speeds.
