  • Patent number: 8638493
Abstract: An optical coupler for coupling optical-pump power into a multimode fiber configured to transport an optical space-division-multiplexed (SDM) signal, the coupling being performed in a manner that enables amplification of the SDM signal in the multimode fiber via a stimulated-emission process or a stimulated Raman-scattering process. The optical coupler can be a part of an optical transmitter configured for co-directional pumping, an optical receiver configured for contra-directional pumping, or a relay station disposed within an optical communication link and configured for either type of pumping. The optical coupler can advantageously be used, e.g., to offset the different degrees of attenuation to which the SDM-signal components corresponding to different guided modes of the multimode fiber are subjected to therein.

  • Publication number: 20140021275
Abstract: An operating method for a jet mill plant, wherein superheated steam at low pressure is used as an operating medium for a jet mill and the steam, after the jet mill and separation of grinding stock, is circulated back again into the jet mill via a compressor for excess pressure and temperature increase in the circuit. Furthermore, a jet mill plant includes a jet mill designed to operate with superheated steam at low pressure, wherein a jet mill steam discharge line, a compressor and a jet mill steam supply line form together with the jet mill a circuit for steam, so that steam is conveyed from the jet mill back again into the jet mill via the compressor for excess pressure and temperature increase in the circuit.

  • Publication number: 20140020494
Abstract: A method of controlling an automated transmission with positioning cylinders (6, 8, 20) controlled by shift valves or venting valves (10, 12, 16, 18, 22, 24). At least one cut-off valve (4) is positioned in front of the shift or venting valves and a control device controls the valves while pressure pipes, which follow the cut-off valve (4), are connected with one another following the cut-off valve (4). Due to the fact that the cut-off valve (4), for reasons of design simplicity and cost, is generally designed as a simple 2/2 way valve which only allows pressure increase but not pressure reduction, the method provides control of the shift valves or ventilation or venting valves (16, 18), of a non activated positioning cylinder (8), so that the pressure pipe system is connected with an outflow pipe (14) for a pressure reduction in the pressure pipe system (30, 32, 34).

  • Publication number: 20140020371
Abstract: A method of controlling an automated transmission for motor vehicles with one or several pressure activated positioning cylinders (6, 8, 20), via the assigned shift valves (10, 12), at least one main cut-off valve (4) which is positioned prior to the shift valves, and a control device for controlling the shift and main cut-off valves. The pressure requests, for the shifting, are determined and the respective main cut-off valves are triggered depending on the determined pressure requests. To enable a variable match of the supply pressure during transmission shifts, respective optimized pressures or pressure patterns are determined for certain shift scenarios which, for instance, consider a mass to be synchronized, the existence of a tooth-on-tooth position, or the like. Through this method, for instance, the load on shift elements, the shift timing, and the shift noise can be positively influenced.

Abstract: A report analyzing system (1) is described. A text processing unit (2) analyzes a text portion (13, 23, 45) of a report. The text portion is in a natural language. The processing unit identifies a concept (41, 42, 43, 44) in the text portion, to obtain a set of identified concepts. A concept ranking unit (3) ranks the concepts (41, 42, 43, 44) of the set of identified concepts based on a ranking criterion, to obtain a ranking. A concept selector (4) selects at least one concept of the set of identified concepts based on the ranking, to obtain at least one selected concept. An associating unit (5) associates a visual representation (31, 32, 33, 34) with the report based on the at least one selected concept. The selected concept may belong to an ontology, e.g. a medical ontology.
