  • Patent number: 10334234
Abstract: A stereo camera (1) for a vehicle includes a first camera (1.1), which has a first image sensor (1.11) and the camera field of vision (S1) of which has a first opening angle (?1), and a second camera (1.2), which has a second image sensor (1.21) and the camera field of vision (S2) of which has a second opening angle (?2). The second opening angle (?2) is greater than the first opening angle (?1). The first camera (1.1) has a first lens optical unit (1.12) and the second camera (1.2) has a second lens optical unit (1.22), which both have an angular resolution that is higher in a central region (Z1, Z2) of the field of vision (S1, S2) lying in the angular range (?11, ?21) around the optical axis (O1) than outside of the central region. The cameras are arranged so that the fields of vision (S1, S2) overlap.

  • Patent number: 9481374
Abstract: A driver assistance system with improved fault tolerance and a method for the same are provided. An actuator control variable for a reduced driver assistance application with reduced functionality is a calculated in a second control unit in case of unavailability of an actuator control variable for the main driver assistance application with full functionality as determined by a first control unit.

  • Patent number: 9239380
Abstract: A driver assistance system for avoiding collisions of a vehicle with pedestrians, the system including a camera sensor and/or a beam sensor. When an object moving at a given speed on a pedestrian crossing is detected, the object is detected as being a pedestrian with a probability that is sufficiently high to output a warning to the driver, reducing the likelihood of a potential collision.

  • Publication number: 20150254516
Abstract: The invention relates to the verification of a detection of other road users of a vehicle, wherein the detection is carried out based on light sources in camera images. The verification is carried out by means of a distance calculation. In particular, a stereo camera can be used, wherein a pairing of light sources in the first image and a color check of the light sources in the first image can be carried out using a first image of the stereo camera. Likewise, a distance estimate of the object, which is assigned to the light sources, can take place. Independently of this, a three-dimensional position calculation of the object which contains the light sources can be performed with a second camera image of the stereo camera. Disparities can be used for this. These two distance values, the estimated distance value and the distance value of the three-dimensional position calculation can be compared, in order to establish whether the object may actually be a preceding vehicle.

  • Patent number: 6184819
Abstract: A method for operating a radar system using at least two antennas provides an increased angular resolution for determining the angular position, radial velocity, and/or distance to a reflection object. A plurality of successive measuring phases are carried out in at least one measuring process. In each measuring phase, operation is repeatedly switched between a transmitting operation in which a transmitted signal pulse is emitted, and a receiving operation in which reflection signals are detected as received signals in the pulse pause interval between successive transmitted pulses. In at least one measuring phase, two different neighboring antennas of the radar system are used respectively as the transmitting antenna for emitting the transmitted signal and as the receiving antenna for detecting the reflected signal. In this manner, the respective receiving antenna monitors only the angular range of overlap between the emitted beam of the transmitting antenna and the field of view of the receiving antenna.

  • Patent number: 5452308
Abstract: A method for monitoring symmetrical two-wire bus lines and two-wire bus interfaces and a device for carrying out the method provides pulse weighting of low to high transitions or high to low transitions of the two wires operated in phase opposition of a two-wire bus line. The pulse chains thus obtained are used for step sequencing. In each case, one multistep shift function which is assigned to the first bus wire, is supplied with a first, constant logic read in state and can be reset to a second logic state in all-step fashion and, for all-step resetting of a similar second multistep shift function assigned to the second bus while, and vice versa, the step last achieved for each multistep shift function characterizing the respective fault state of the other bus wire. The pulse weighting is achieved by differentiation or high-pass filtering or by pulse generation controlled by state transition.

  • Patent number: 4973912
Abstract: A method and a device for transmitting and for measuring resistance values, is particularly provided for use in motor vehicles, for the constant control of airbag systems. In the method and device an exciter signal coupled into a secondary-side resonant LCR circuit from the primary side via inductively coupled coils is interrupted, transmitted back to the primary side of the transformer and is there used for determining the resistance value by evaluating the time constant of the exciter response.
