  • Patent number: 8132995
Abstract: A book binding machine includes a book block transport system and a plurality of clamps for clamping stacks of leaves. The clamps are disposed at a distance from each other and are guided in guide tracks of a machine frame. The book block transport system includes a clamp, which is also referred to as a lubrication clamp, having a device for lubricating the guide track. An applicator is assigned to each track roller of the clamp, and the lubricant is transferred to the track rollers through the use of a respective applicator such as a brush. The track rollers transfer the lubricant to contact surfaces of the guide track. A lubrication clamp for a book block transport system in a book binding machine, is also provided.

  • Patent number: 7451969
Abstract: To optimize the effort involved when converting a gatherer stitcher which transports initially continuously transported brochures step by step into a stitching station and subsequently into an output station, sensors are assigned to machine components affected by geometrical parameters that are relevant to the process when there is a change of job order and to a reference component. The sensors emit signals defining the phase positions of the machine components, and a controller processing the signals coordinates the phase positions with at least one of the parameters in such a way that the brochures arrive in the output station in a center-oriented manner.

  • Patent number: 4566681
Abstract: The invention relates to a collating machine with several successively arranged feeders for the conveyance of sheets of paper on a conveyor line and with control devices at each feed station to monitor the formation of book blocks from which machine cycle-dependent error signals are output in the event of missed or duplicate feeding. It is the object of the invention to alter the operational flow of a conveyor line in such a way that in the event of defective book blocks, a manual separation of the book blocks and sorting of the individual sheets or sheet layers into the magazines at the feed stations can be eliminated. According to the invention, this is achieved by using a micro-computer to control a sliding rejection device with a station number indicator, located at the end of the conveyor line for the book blocks.

  • Patent number: 4527793
Abstract: The monitoring device serves to monitor the formation of bookblocks at depositing stations for collating machines and to release a control impulse at faulty formation of a bookblock. The object of the invention is to accomplish the formation of bookblocks on collating machines, provided with suction drums, and to reduce expenses of adjusting the machine for processing of varying paper thicknesses. The object is to construct a device, in such a manner that the precalculated position of a contact lever may be simply adjusted upon a base plate corresponding to any paper thickness and that the smallest deviations of position of the contact lever in one or another direction may be deleted while ensuring regularity of signal.According to the invention, this object is accomplished by fastening at least one spring mounted stop for setting the precalculated position of the contact lever upon a base plate which is movably disposed relative to the machine frame.
