  • Patent number: 5666998
Abstract: A sensor for detecting the stress profile of a thread that has moved. The sensor contains a signal generator, a thread guiding member and a body of resilient material. The signal generator is resiliently mounted in a vibration damping manner and in the manner of a cantilever in a body. Through this mounting arrangement the influence through mechanical action and also the influence of the thermal expansion caused by heat as a result of the heating up caused by the running thread are largely cancelled and thus measurement errors are avoided.

  • Patent number: 5564473
Abstract: An apparatus and method for correcting an irregularity during the insertion of a weft yarn into a weaving rotor of a series shed weaving machine involves drawing a length of weft yarn from a supply unit and delivering the weft yarn to the weaving machine in synchronicity with the weaving cycle. The length of weft yarn is inserted into a weft yarn conveyor apparatus and wound around a conveyor roller. A sensor is positioned between the supply unit and the conveyor apparatus to detect a weft yarn interruption, e.g., as a result of a weft yarn breakage or the yarn running out of spool. When the interruption is detected, the conveyor roller continues to deliver weft yarn stored in the storage apparatus until a complete weft yarn insertion into the weaving machine has taken place (i.e., weft yarn having a single loom width). The weft yarn is then cut at the insertion side of the weaving machine and the weaving machine is stopped.

  • Patent number: 5103876
Abstract: The metering device for metering the weft yarn of a loom comprises a metering roller which is disposed between a supply unit and a draw off unit and which, in metering operation, is wrapped around by the weft yarn and determines the weft yarn draw off speed. In the event of a weft yarn break, a new waft start is injected past the metering roller into a catching nozzle and by way of a deflector into a yarn accumulator. A brake terminates the injection step. While a draw off element applies tension to the yarn, the yarn is wrapped automatically and in a number of turns around the metering roller by being moved into a catching zone of a catcher, which is rotatable around the metering roller axis, through the agency of a relative movement between the injected weft yarn and the catcher. During one revolution of the catcher around the roller axis, the weft yarn is deposited on the metering roller in the form of a wrapping.

  • Patent number: 4785855
Abstract: A weft yarn store for looms has a stationary drum (10) for storing a weft yarn supply (23) and a braking device (13) at the end of the drum. A resiliently deformable brake element (132) is movable by means of an adjusting device (131) relatively to a braking surface of the drum. The adjusting device may be an annular electromagnet 131 and is in direct operative engagement with low-inertia parts of the brake element 132. Such parts can be finger-like lamellae disposed one beside another on the outer drum periphery (10). The action of the braking device can therefore be accurately adjusted to the departing weft yarn so that the same is retarded gently at the end of picking into a loom.
