  • Patent number: 7690235
Abstract: In a method of cooling and/or lubricating of rolls and/or rolling stock according to which a cooling medium is applied to the rolls from a plurality of nozzles/nozzle rows, on one hand, and for lubrication, on the other hand, base oil is applied to the rolling stock in front of a roll gap, wherein the nozzles/nozzle rows are adjusted separately and independent from each other the cooling medium is applied to the rolls separately from the base oil, and finally, the base oil without water as a base medium is applied directly to the rolling stock over an entire width thereof in a very small amount in comparison with a conventional amount. To this end, media separating means is arranged between the nozzles/nozzle rows for applying cooling medium to the rolls and the nozzles/nozzle rows for applying base oil to the rolling stock.

  • Patent number: 7669447
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for cold-rolling strips consisting of, inter alia, special steels and/or nonferrous metals, in a multi-stand tandem rolling mill. The first stand(s) carry out comparatively high reductions and the last stand(s) determine the surface quality of the strip, with a relatively low reduction. The aim of the invention is to improve the capacity of the tandem rolling mill in terms of thickness reduction and in terms of the surface quality of the rolled strips. To this end, an emulsion is used as a coolant and lubricant for the first passages of the strip through the tandem rolling mill with relatively high reduction. The adhesive coolant and lubricant film is then squeezed off the strip following removal from the roll gap of the last emulsion-operated stand. Rolling oil is used as a lubricant for especially the last passage(s) through the tandem rolling mill with relatively low reduction. The invention also relates to an installation for carrying out the inventive method.

  • Patent number: 7260968
Abstract: An installation for cold-rolling strip composed of special steel and/or nonferrous metals, which includes a multi-stand tandem rolling mill and essentially two independent coolant and lubricant systems. The installation further includes an emulsion system with tanks, system pumps, coolers, and vacuum band filters and/or pressure band filters as well as a rolling oil system which contains the afore-mentioned components, such that the filters are extremely fine, reversible-flow filters.

  • Patent number: 7213785
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for turning and reorienting the displacement direction of strips (1), especially of a thin hot strip. The strip can be turned about any angle by means of at least one deflection roller, with roller banks (5) which are arranged on the circumference of the deflection roller, and which respectively comprise a plurality of individual rollers. Plastic and elastic deformations are avoided due to the fact that the strip is supported at various points by the individual rollers of successive roller banks (5). The invention also relates to a device for carrying out the method. Said device enables the roller banks placed one after the other in the strip deflection direction to be staggered in relation to each other in such a way that the contact surfaces of their rollers with the strip are staggered from bank to bank, by one roller width (11,12).

  • Patent number: 7011714
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for treating surfaces of metallic strip material (1), especially for pickling rolled material, in a treatment channel (2), with a pickling medium (3) containing acid. Jets (4) are set in the direction in which the strip is transported (5) at the entrance to the channel (2a) and in the opposite direction that in which the strip is transported at the exit of the channel (2b). The aim of the invention is to produce a closed liquid film with some turbulence on the surface of the strip. Said film should be maintained as far as the exit (2b) of the channel. To this end, additional jets (4) between the channel entrance (2a) and the channel exit (2b) are oriented in the opposite direction to the direction in which the strip is transported (5) and the pickling medium (3) is further delayed in flowing out at the channel exit (2b) by mechanical resistance devices (7) situated in the path of the transport channel (6).

  • Patent number: 6436556
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for the production of a strip-like metallic composite material by the high-temperature dip coating of a metallic carrier strip, consisting of a metallurgic vessel for receiving the liquid depositing material, through which the carrier strip is capable of being led in a preferably vertical run-through direction by means of pairs of rollers arranged on the entry and the exit side, and of a preheating device for the carrier strip, said preheating device being located upstream of the metallurgic vessel. At the same time, the preheating device (41) is arranged in a housing (61) which is arranged in the entry region upstream of the metallurgic vessel (11) and surrounds the carrier strip (21) and into which the medium coming from a media supply (52) is capable of being introduced via at least one feed (51) led into the housing.
