  • Patent number: 5792349
Abstract: In order to create a rotating drum filter with a filter medium that is extremely fine-meshed and nonetheless has a long service life, whereby the filter medium need not be completely replaced given localized damage thereto, it is inventively proposed that the filter medium be formed of a composite element body with at least two metallic layers, namely with an extremely finely porous, outer metal layer or, respectively, stainless steel fabric that is firmly applied onto at least one metallic supporting grid layer or, respectively, onto a stainless steel fabric layer that is coarse-meshed compared thereto.

  • Patent number: 5342281
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for the wet-mechanical separation of solids within a parting liquid into floats and sinks according to their density which includes a container rotatable about an axis provided with at least one opening for the admission of said solids to be separated and at least one separate opening for the discharge of the sinks, the floats and the parting liquid. A screw conveyor for separating the solids is arranged in the container. The screw conveyor is rotatable about the container axis with one set of helices for engaging the floats and another set of helices for engaging the sinks. A diaphragm plate is arranged axially on the screw conveyor between the admission opening for the solids to be separated and the discharge opening for the sinks such that one part of the screw conveyor conveys the sinks to the sinks discharge opening with its helices and another part of the screw conveyor conveys the floats to the floats discharge opening with its helices.

  • Patent number: 4930545
Abstract: Described is a tubular artificial sausage casing based on fiber-reinforced cellulose which shows, in the completely soaked state as compared to the state prior to soaking in water, an increase in length of from about 0.8 to 2.5% and a transverse shrinkage of from about 2.5 to 5.2%. Preferably, the change of diameter of the casing at the same change of pressure in the range above 20 kPa is approximately equal for the completely soaked state and for a moisture content of from about 22 to 27% by weight. In a preferred embodiment, the sausage casing can be filled with sausage meat without being previously soaked in water and, for this purpose, has a moisture content of from about 22 to 27% by weight and a glycerol content of from about 17 to 20% by weight, in each case based on its total weight, and is provided with a fungicide on its outside surface.
