    Abstract: The present invention relates to coating compounds of which the binder consists essentially of a combination of a) a polyol component dissolved and/or dispersed in water or a water/solvent mixture, and b) a polyisocyanate component emulsified in the solution and/or dispersion of the polyol component with a viscosity at 23° C. of 50 to 10,000 mPa.s, in quantities corresponding to an equivalent ratio of isocyanate groups of component a) to alcoholic hydroxyl groups of component b) of 0.5:1 to 5:1, characterized in that component consists essentially of a1) a water-dilutable, hydroxyfunctional polycondensate resin free from urethane and sulfonate groups and having a molecular weight Mn above 500 or a2) a mixture of such a polycondensation resin with up to 100% by weight, based on the weight of the polycondensation resin, of at least one water-dilutable, hydroxyfunctional polymerization resin having a molecular weight Mn above 500.

    Abstract: A process for the preparation of a polyurethane-urea elastomer having a mole ratio of NCO groups to all active hydrogen atoms in the range of 0.9 to 1.2 is disclosed. The process comprise reacting (A), (B) and (C.2) for form an NCO-containing prepolymer and then reacting said prepolymer with (C.1) and (D). Accordingly (A) is 5-isocyanato-1-(isocyanatomethyl)-1,1,3-trimethylcyclohexane or bis-(4-isocyanatocyclohexyl)-methane,(B) is polytetrahydrofuran or hexanediol polycarbonate and (C.2) is a chain extender. (C.1) is 5-amino-3-amino-methyl-1,3,3-trimethylcyclohexane or bis-(4-aminocyclohexyl)-methane and (D) is a molecular weight regulator. The elastomer thus produced is particularly suitable for the preparation of moldings, films, flexible tubing (for medical purposes) and catheters.

    Abstract: A thermoplastic molding composition suitable for the preparation of foam is disclosed. The composition comprises a thermoplastic resinous component and a foaming agent which includes A) (i) 0.01 to 4.8% alumina hydrate (aluminum hydroxide) in combination with (ii) 0.01 to 4.8% of an acidic additive or B) 0.01 to 4.8% of the reaction product of said (i) and said (ii), the percentages being relative to the weight of the composition to be foamed. The invention is based on the finding that the foaming of the composition does not lead to any significant reduction in molecular weight of the resinous component or to troublesome discoloration of the foam, even during its re-extrusion.
