  • Patent number: 8960168
Abstract: An arrangement for cooling of recirculating exhaust gases of a combustion engine (2) in a vehicle (1). The arrangement comprises a first EGR cooler (14), a driving means (15, 31) adapted to driving air through the first EGR cooler (14) in order to cool the exhaust gases in a return line (11) which are subjected to a first step of cooling in the first EGR cooler (14), and at least one second EGR cooler (19, 20) in which the exhaust gases in the return line (11) are intended to undergo a second step of cooling. The arrangement comprises an air line (16) which extends at least from the first EGR cooler (14) to the exhaust pipe (4) at a location between the turbine (5) and the exhaust-treating component (18a, 18b), which air line (16) is adapted to leading warm air from the first EGR cooler (14) into the exhaust line (4) at said location.

  • Patent number: 8408169
Abstract: At least one cooling device for a motor vehicle is aircooled by an air flow generated by a cooling fan of the motor vehicle. An air flow configuration of the cooling fan is determined by the fan's degree of protrusion from a fan ring running in the circumferential direction of the fan, preferably in air flow communication with a fan cowling. The air flow configuration is optimized in a manner controlled according to need by relocation of a movable portion of the fan ring in an axial direction of the fan. The disclosed method of controlling the air flow configuration is summarized above. A device performing the method and an engine for the motor vehicle including the device are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8025045
Abstract: A cooler device for a motor vehicle including a charge air cooler with a first cooler element, an EGR cooler with a second cooler element arranged substantially in plane with the first cooler element is disclosed. A screening device regulates air flow through the cooler elements. A control mechanism is operable to switch the screening device to and from between an open position and a closed position. A first screening portion allows more air to pass through than a second screening portion when the screening device is in the closed position such that air flow through the first cooler element is limited to a lesser extent than through the second cooler element in the closed position.

  • Publication number: 20100326376
Abstract: Method for control of cooling by means of an air flow configuration of a motor vehicle's cooling fan (1) whereby at least one cooling device (2;2?,2?), e.g. a radiator (2) for radiator liquid and a cooler (2?) for charge air for the engine, is/are aircooled by an air flow generated by inter alia the fan, comprising the step of determining air flow configuration by the fan's degree of protrusion (a) from a fan ring (4) running in the circumferential direction of the fan, preferably in air flow communication with a fan cowling (3). Optimizing the air flow configuration in manner controlled according to need by the degree of protrusion (a) by relocation of a movable portion (6) of the fan ring (4) in the axial direction (1?) of the fan (1). The invention relates also to a device that performs the method and to an engine with the elements described.

Abstract: A cooler device for a motor vehicle comprising: a charge air cooler with a first cooler element, an EGR cooler with a second cooler element the first cooler element and the second cooler element are arranged substantially in plane with one another. A screening device is arranged in front of or behind the cooler elements in order to regulate the air flow through the cooler elements. The screening device comprises a first screening portion associated with the first cooler element and a second screening portion associated with the second cooler element. A control mechanism is operable to switch the screening device to and fro between an open position and a closed position.
