  • Publication number: 20020073409
Abstract: A telecommunications platform (20) comprises a cluster (32) of processors (30) which perform a platform central processing function. The platform central processing function includes a cluster support function (50) which is distributed to the cluster of processors. For sake of redundancy, programs (PGMs) are distributed throughout the cluster so that at least some of the processors of the cluster have active versions of at least some of the programs and standby versions of others of the programs, e.g., an intermixing of assignments of active and standby versions of programs. Moreover, programs and programs comprising them can be loaded, started, shutdown, stopped, and upgraded without terminating overall operation the platform. In its various aspects, the cluster support function (50) includes a state storage system (200) and a name server system (300) for facilitating restart and switch over of programs and programs executed by processors of the cluster.

  • Publication number: 20020073410
Abstract: Software in the form of a program (60) is replaced (e.g., upgraded) on a telecommunications platform (node) (620, 20) without shutting down the telecommunications functions of the platform. The old program (601.0) that is replaced is of a type which stores state information in a state storage system (200). In connection with a software (program) replacement operation for the old program, after a new program (601.1) is started either a shutdown (2-4) instruction is sent to the old program, a software support function of the platform activates a conversion program (80). The conversion program renders the state information of the old program as converted state information which is usable by the new program.

  • Patent number: 5993304
Abstract: A hand tool includes an apparatus housing (2), a drive shaft part (10) which is rotatable in the housing, and toolholder part (18) which is mounted pivotably in the housing, is operatively connected to the drive shaft part and has a securing portion (24) projecting from the housing for the purpose of receiving a file, for example. A shaft journal (30) is secured in the drive shaft part (10) and is eccentrically positioned (R) in relation to the center line (A) of the drive shaft part. The shaft journal (30) supports, on its section (48) outside the drive shaft part, a movement-transmitting member (50') with an outer limit surface (52'). This member is arranged in drive engagement with a recess (54) in the end portion of the toolholder part (18) located inside the apparatus housing (2). In the recess (54) the movement-transmitting member (50') can move transverse to the toolholder part (18), with the outside (52') rolling against adjoining contact surfaces (56, 58) which delimit the recess.

  • Patent number: 5725058
Abstract: Hand tool with an apparatus housing (2) in which the are movably mounted a rotary portion (8) and a reciprocating slide (10) non-rotatably but displaceably mounted in the housing, said slide serving as a holder for a tool (12). The rotary portion (8) has an oblique shaft (32) with a rolling bearing device (36) mounted thereon, which converts the rotation of the rotary portion into a reciprocating movement of the displaceable portion (10). The rolling bearing device (36) comprises one or two rolling bearings with outer ring surface areas, via which the bearing device is in direct driving contact with a driver element (52) at the end of the displaceably mounted slide (10). The driver element (52) is in direct engagement with the outer rings (48, 50) of the bearing device via opposite lateral surfaces (54, 56).

  • Patent number: 4973114
Abstract: An apparatus for making holograms of an object is described. The apparatus has a laser source emitting a collimated or slightly divergent laser beam, and a holder for a holographic plate to hold the holographic plate between said object and said laser source in a position near said object. A positive lens means having its focus is placed between said lens means and said holographic plate such that a divergent laser beam is impinging on said holographic plate and cover an illuminating area on said plate extending well beyond the area of said object in a plane parallel to said holographic plate. A closed housing is placed around said laser source and said lens means, which housing has a controllable shutter to be opened only at control provided in an end wall in a position cutting the beam path of said outgoing laser beam.

  • Patent number: 4880395
Abstract: The present invention relates to a test system for a protective relay. The test system comprises a test switch (1) and a test-plug handle (2). The invention comprises supplementing the system with a contact function which is activated when the handle is inserted into the test switch so that, before the testing of the relays in the protective device is initiated, a signal function can be obtained to indicate that testing is in progress. The contact function is brought about by arranging, on the upper and/or lower side(s) of the test switch, two semi-protected, uninsulated and parallel contact pins/slide bars (4, 5) from the front edge to the rear edge of the test switch. At the rear edge contact parts to ordinary conductors are arranged in order to forward the contact function. The contact pins are mounted in a guide structure (10, 11) formed with an inner guide profile adapted to guide two resilient tongues (13, 14) on the test-plug handle.

  • Patent number: 4774509
Abstract: A device for mechanically resetting, by means of a simple manipulation, an optional number of status indicators of the type consisting of an electromagnet with an iron core, a magnetizing winding and some form of permanently magnetized indicating disk capable of rotating through 180.degree.. The device comprises a rail made of a non-magnetic material and being formed so as to enable a desired number of indicators to be mounted side-by-side. The rail has such a profile as to enable a shuttle with a corresponding profile to be in engagement with and be guided by and slide on the rail in its longitudinal direction. The shuttle is provided with a permanent magnet as well as with a pole piece mounted so as to form, together with the core in the electromagnet of each indicator, a magnetic circuit when the shuttle is pushed over the respective indicator whereby the rotatable indicating disk is influenced and is reset to indicate the reset position.

The charging portion includes wires positioned parallel to and between parallel metal sheets, the wires having an electric potential other than that of the metal sheets. The separation portion includes plural parallel metal sheets, each of which has an electric potential other than that of adjacent metal sheets. The charging portion includes two or more wires between each pair of metal sheets, and the metal sheets of the charging portion extend through and constitute some of the metal sheets of the separation portion, between which are disposed addition metal sheets of an odd number.
