  • Patent number: 5223071
Abstract: Apparatus for continuously manufacturing chip-and fiber-board webs having uniform thickness across their width in a press comprising a centrally disposed press cylinder journalled to rotate in bearings in uprights and at least one pressure roller disposed adjacent to periphery of the press cylinder. An endless steel band which carries the material for forming the web and which is subjected to tensile stress, is guided around the press cylinder and through the nip defined between the press cylinder and the pressure roller. The material is then pressed between the endless steel band and the surface of the press cylinder. The pressure roller is journalled for rotation in bearing bodies at each of its ends, with the bearing bodies being connected to piston and cylinder arrangements. When the press is in its loaded state, the bearing body at one end of the pressure roller is displaced by the application of a preselected pressure towards the axis of rotation of the press cylinder.

  • Patent number: 5167978
Abstract: A press for the continuous production of thin chipboard and fibreboard includes a central rotatable drum and a feed roller; a nip being defined between the curved exterior surfaces of the drum and roller. An endless steel band passes around a major portion of the curved surfaces of both drum and roller and passes through the nip. Other rollers are provided for guiding, tensioning and applying pressure to the band. The feed roller has a large diameter, of at least 2 m, and is provided with drive means so as to be rotatable. These features, surprisingly, enable the board output to be increasing while, at the same time improving the physical characteristics of the board.

  • Patent number: 5057167
Abstract: A method of continuously manufacturing chip and fiberboard webs having uniform thickness across their width in a press comprising a centrally disposed press cylinder journalled to rotate in bearings in uprights and at least one pressure roller, and preferably three pressure rollers, disposed adjacent the periphery of the press cylinder. An endless steel band carrying the material for forming the web is subjected to tensile stress and is guided around the press cylinder and through the nip defined between the press cylinder and the pressure roller. The material is pressed between the endless steel band and the surface of the press cylinder. The pressure roller is journalled for rotation in bearings at each of its ends. When the press is in its loaded state, the bearing body at one end of the pressure roller is displaced by the application of a preselected pressure towards the axis of rotation of the press cylinder.

  • Patent number: 4932855
Abstract: A press for the continuous production of thin chipboard and fibreboards a heated, rotatable central pressing drum, which is mounted in a support arrangement which includes a plurality of interconnected support members and a plurality of pressure rollers, disposed around a major portion of the periphery of the drum. An endless steel belt is guided around the major portion of the periphery of the drum between the drum and the pressure rollers. The belt carries the material from which the boards are to be produced and can be tensioned. The material, a chip or fibre layer mixed with a binding agent is subjected to a surface pressure between the endless steel belt and the pressing drum, and to a linear pressure in the nips between the pressing drum and the pressure rollers.

  • Patent number: 4389182
Abstract: A continuously operable chipboard press has a heatable pressing drum enclosed over a part of its periphery by a first endless steel pressing belt which is guided around direction-changing rolls, thereby forming a pressing section for a chip cake. In order to increase the surface pressure applied by the endless pressing belt, a second endless steel pressing belt is guided around separate direction-changing rolls within a space between the pressing section and a return pass of the first endless pressing belt. The second endless steel pressing belt acts on the outer face of the first pressing belt for a part of the pressing section.

  • Patent number: 4331500
Abstract: An endless belt, for apparatus for continuously hot pressing webs of material by pulling the belt against the periphery of a heated rotatable drum with the web interposed therebetween, comprising a layer of butyl rubber bonded to a fabric of steel wires, a textile layer adhered to the butyl rubber and a layer of silicon rubber adhered to the textile layer. In manufacture the fabric of steel wires is encased in the butyl rubber, the textile layer is adhered to the butyl rubber and the composite article is vulcanized. After vulcanization, the silicon rubber layer is adhered to the textile layer and the composite article thus formed again vulcanized.

  • Patent number: 4177725
Abstract: In apparatus having an endless pressing band, formed of a layer of rubber with a steel-wire fabric connected thereto, passing around a heating drum, two associated guide rollers and a hitch roller, the relative positions of advancement of the opposite ends of a transverse weft wire of the steel-wire fabric are sensed by photoelectric cell arrangements and, upon sensing of a lagging of one end behind the other, control means are activated to move the bearing at one end of the hitch roller towards or away from the heating drum while retaining the axes of the hitch roller and the heating drum in a common plane.

  • Patent number: 3994769
Abstract: Apparatus for continuously laminating a continuous strip of chipboard on one or both sides with decorative film comprising means for feeding a continuous strip of chipboard between one or more pairs of rolls together with decorative film and a bonding agent. Means are provided for applying heat and pressure to laminate the decorative film and the continuous strip of chipboard together and embossing the decorative film laminated to the chipboard. In one form of the invention, the chipboard, decorative film and bonding agent may be preheated before being fed to the pairs of rolls, the rolls are preferably heated revolving drums and means can be provided for further heating the laminate before feeding the same through additional heated drums prior to embossing it.
