  • Publication number: 20210316709
Abstract: For testing the functional capability of a hydraulic power vehicle braking system, a power brake pressure generator is switched on. The power brake pressure generator displaces brake fluid through the non-actuated master brake cylinder into a brake fluid reservoir, which is why no brake pressure is built up. A brake pressure build-up allows a “hidden defect” to be inferred, which has no impact during normal operation and is therefore not noticed.

  • Patent number: 6542805
Abstract: A device for controlling at least one vehicle motion quantity which describes a motion of a vehicle is presented. For this purpose, the device contains a control arrangement for activating actuators to control the vehicle motion quantity. The device also contains a determining arrangement for determining a poor road stretch quantity which describes the travel of the vehicle on a poor road stretch. The control arrangement is affected as a function of the poor road stretch quantity so that the sensitivity of the control arrangement is adapted to the travel of the vehicle on a poor road stretch.

  • Patent number: 6427130
Abstract: A device is part if a device for regulating a motion variable representing the vehicle motion. This device is used to determine whether a vehicle is located on a road surface inclined across the direction of travel of the vehicle. The device has a first apparatus for detecting various variables describing the vehicle motion. Furthermore, this device contains a second apparatus with which identically defined comparison Variables are determined at least on the basis of the various variables describing the vehicle motion detected with the first apparatus. In the third apparatus of this device, plausibility queries are performed at least on the basis of the identically defined comparison variables to determine whether the vehicle is located on a road surface inclined across the direction of travel of the vehicle. The result of the determination performed with the third apparatus is taken into account in regulating the motion variable representing the vehicle motion.

  • Patent number: 6367894
Abstract: A method and a device for setting the braking action on the wheels of a motor vehicle is described where at least two wheels are arranged on a rear axle and two wheels are arranged on the front axle. A wheel quantity representing the stability of one wheel is formed at least as a function of the wheel slip. This wheel quantity (as a first comparison quantity) is compared with an appropriate threshold value (as a second comparison quantity). Depending on the result of this comparison, the braking action is set. A friction quantity representing the friction coefficient on one wheel or on several wheels of the rear axle is determined. Depending on this friction quantity describing the friction conditions on the rear wheels, at least one of the comparison values (friction value and/or threshold value) on one wheel or several wheels of the front axle is modified.

  • Patent number: 6253130
Abstract: A device to monitor sensors in a motor vehicle, with the sensors generating signals that each represent different physical variables is provided. The device has a first arrangement with which identically defined comparison variables for the sensors are determined for at least two sensors on the basis of at least the signals generated by them. Furthermore, the device has a second arrangement with which monitoring is performed for at least one sensor, with the monitoring being performed at least as a function of a sensor reference variable determined for the sensor, the signal generated with the sensor and a respective threshold value. In addition, this device has a second arrangement with which a variable is determined at least as a function of at least two of the identically defined comparison variables and is taken into account in forming the threshold value.

  • Patent number: 6223107
Abstract: A device to monitor sensors in a motor vehicle, with the sensors generating signals, each representing different physical is provided. The device includes first arrangement with which identically defined comparison variables for the sensors are determined for at least two sensors on the basis of at least the signals generated by them. Furthermore, the device includes a second arrangement with which a reference variable is determined on the basis of at least two of the identically defined comparison variables and is taken into account in monitoring performed in a third arrangement for at least one sensor. To form the reference variable, a variable describing the difference between the identically defined comparison variable and the other identically defined comparison variables of the minimum of two identically defined comparison variables is determined for each of the minimum of two identically defined comparison variables. The identically defined comparison variable is evaluated using this variable.

  • Patent number: 6122577
Abstract: The apparatus is used for monitoring sensors in a vehicle which generate signals each representing different physical variables. The apparatus contains a first arrangement with which, for at least two sensors and on the basis at least of the signals generated by them, comparison variables defined identically for the sensors are determined. The apparatus also includes a second arrangement with which, as a function of at least the determined comparison variables, a reference variable is determined. On the basis of at least the determined reference variable, a monitoring operation for at least one sensor is performed in a third arrangement. In addition to the third arrangement, the apparatus further includes a fourth arrangement with which, for at least one sensor, a correction of the signal generated by the fourth arrangement is performed, at least as a function of the reference variable.

  • Patent number: 5779328
Abstract: In a brake system with a controllable hydraulic pump in a hydraulic circuit, and with at least one solenoid valve, the operating state of the valve is changed in response to a control signal. As a result of the change in the operating state of the solenoid valve, the flow resistance in the hydraulic circuit is changed. Monitoring structure is provided which, in the presence of certain operating conditions, monitor the run-down behavior of the hydraulic pump in different operating states of the solenoid valve and actuate a display device to display a malfunction of the brake system when a malfunction is detected. Additionally, or alternatively, the automatic brake control can be turned off in reaction to the detection of a malfunction. It is possible for the control unit and the hydraulic unit to be replaced separately and for the installation to be tested for proper functioning.

  • Patent number: 5553593
Abstract: A control system is described for metering the fuel in an internal combustion engine. On the basis of the operating state of the internal combustion engine and a mixture correction signal for correcting the deviation of the air/fuel ratio from a desired value, a basic injection quantity signal is generated. A transition compensation signal is also generated while taking into account an adaptive correction factor. The adaptive correction factor is generated by comparing the mixture correction signal with a reference. The transition compensation signal is logically combined with the basic injection quantity signal to form a signal indicative of the quantity of fuel to be injected. In a second exemplary embodiment, the adaptive correction factor is determined by comparing the output signal of an exhaust gas sensor with a reference.

  • Patent number: 5455770
Abstract: A brake controller is connected downstream of a primary vehicle dynamics computer and has a channel for controlling the yaw velocity at a desired value, and a channel for limiting the sideslip angle. The computer prescribes the desired value and the limit value, and determines which channel is effective on the basis of the driving situation. The two channels generate a control signal which is routed via a control amplifier having a proportional component and a differential component. An actuating signal which is used to input braking pressure at the wheel brakes is formed from the resulting signal components, the instantaneous driving situation being assigned in both cases to one of a plurality of classes, and this assignment being co-used to determine the wheels at which braking pressure is input.

  • Patent number: 5316379
Abstract: System for controlling yawing moment in a vehicle equipped with ABS and rear wheel steering includes a controller which generates a compensation steering angle for the rear wheels based on the difference between brake pressures at the front wheels. The difference is filtered so that the angle is zero up to a minimum pressure threshold and thereafter consists of a constant portion added to a variable portion which decreases with time. The compensation steering angle so generated may be modified by a correction factor dependent on the transverse acceleration of the vehicle and a further correction factor dependent on the velocity.
