  • Publication number: 20130187495
Abstract: A spring contact for a sliding contact is provided having a terminal region and at least one contact region including an elongated spring element and a precious metal. The spring contact includes a conductive spring support and at least one contact piece. The spring support has essentially symmetrical rigidity in some regions in a plane perpendicular to the elongated extension of the spring support, and is made of a conductive material essentially free of precious metal. The contact piece(s) is/are conductively connected to the spring support, and has at least one surface to form the sliding contact. A surface of the contact piece(s) is made of a precious metal or a precious metal alloy. A slip ring transmitter for a motor or dynamo is also provided having a spring contact of this type, wherein the surface of the contact piece(s) touch(es) against the slip ring(s) in a conductive manner.

  • Publication number: 20090058219
Abstract: A slip ring has a substrate material and a sliding contact surface made of gold or a gold alloy. The sliding contact surface is stabilized by a support base. The slip ring is used in slip ring transmitters, in particular in wind power plants or industrial robots, for transmitting control signals and control currents and generator currents. An extended service life, in conjunction with improved quality, a reduced drop in voltage and considerable savings in the amount of gold used can be achieved with the slip ring.

  • Patent number: 3948127
Abstract: Apparatus for severing a tow of crimped textile fibers has an outer cage and an inner cage. The inner cage has an annulus of idler rollers extending in parallelism with the common axis of the cages, and the outer cage has an annulus of elongated knives whose cutting edges spacedly surround and face the rollers. A tow of textile fibers is fed axially into the inner cage and is guided radially outwardly by an eyelet in the inner cage to enter a ring-shaped compartment between the knives and the rollers. A motor drives the inner cage or the outer cage to thereby convolute the tow in the compartment whereby the driven cage adds convolutions in the region immediately adjacent to the rollers and such convolutions cause the outer convolutions to expand toward and to be severed by the cutting edges. The severed fibers are withdrawn by a suction chamber which surrounds the outer cage.
