The cutting-element carrier (20) can be supported and driven in the transverse direction (Y) of the table, on a stationary frame (10), which encloses the workpiece table (1) in the vicinity of the table gap (4), on the open side (20d). The cutting-element carrier can also be moved and supported in the longitudinal direction (X) of the table on the opposite side (20c).
