Abstract: A concatenation module adapted to be concatenated with further concatenation modules as a battery, comprising a housing and lateral concatenation contacts on the housing for making electrical contact with at least one further concatenation module. The housing is in the form of a three-dimensional circuit substrate and it contains at least one electronic component, arranged on the circuit substrate, for a control function and/or a monitoring function and/or a communication function. When the concatenation modules are assembled as a battery the concatenation contact preferably make flatwise contact with each other.
