  • Patent number: 8960093
Abstract: An igniter for seismic prospection or for mining applications or for use in the crude oil and natural gas industries is described, including a detonator in which an explosive material, an igniting element and internal wires for initiating the igniting element are arranged, wherein the internal wires lead into a plug which is arranged at one end of the detonator. In order for the user of the igniter to be able to introduce external wires into the plug without having to strip the wires of insulation beforehand, and, in the plug, for the internal wires to be electrically connected to the external wires, without the external wires requiring any plug and socket connector or mating part of a plug and socket connector, the plug is designed as a multifunctional plug.

  • Publication number: 20100011944
Abstract: A perforation gun includes an external gun barrel in the interior of which perforators are located which can be ignited via a fuse extending through the gun barrel and which, after ignition, pierce the gun barrel with perforation holes. A sliding tube or a swellable two-component foam is provided which automatically closes the perforation holes. The swellable two-component foam can be provided in a cartridge located inside the gun barrel and can be broken up by the ignited fuse, thereby allowing foam to escape from the cartridges, allowing it to swell and obliterate the perforation holes. The sliding tube can be displaced after perforation by an adjusting device by at least the diameter of the perforation hole, the sliding tube being located coaxially between the perforators and the gun barrel.

  • Publication number: 20070107589
Abstract: The invention relates to a perforation gun comprising an external gun barrel (1) in the interior of which perforators (10) are located which can be ignited via a fuse (11) extending through the gun barrel (1) and which, after ignition, pierce the gun barrel (1) with perforation holes (13), whereby means are provided which automatically close the perforation holes (13). According to an embodiment of the invention, the means for automatically closing the perforation holes comprise cartridges including a swellable two-component foam. Said cartridges are located inside the gun barrel (1) and can be broken up by the ignited fuse (11), thereby allowing foam to escape from the cartridges, allowing it to swell and obliterate the perforation holes (13).

  • Patent number: 6520089
Abstract: A method for setting and igniting a charge of explosives for geological investigations, comprising the following steps: a hole (14) is drilled in the ground (12) which is to be investigated; an explosion chamber (22) is hollowed out, whereby said explosion chamber has an expanded form in relation to the bore hole (14) at the end of said bore hole (14); an ignition element (34) and an explosive container (36) containing an explosive in a protective blister (54) surrounding the ignition element are lowered down into the explosion chamber (22); the explosive (42) is pressed out of the explosive container (36) into the explosive chamber (22) and the ignition element (34) is ignited In comparison with conventional methods, the inventive method provides for a considerably smaller diameter of bore hole, whereby said bore hole is substantially easier to drill.
