  • Patent number: 6009803
Abstract: A double press for making and/or coating of web-shaped or plate-shaped workpieces of all types includes a reaction zone in which the pressure load of the workpiece passing through the press, and the intensity of the heat transfer or the heat removal are designed to be adjustable for individual products over an extended range. Between the pressing rolls (9) and the pressure plate (6), there are disposed bearing rollers (10) associated with the pressing rolls. A liquid pressure-transmitting medium flows turbulently in a short circulatory loop through the pressure chamber and a heating or cooling unit (13) located outside the pressure chamber. The double band presses can be employed in the furniture and electrical industry as well as in other branches of industry where laminated materials are used or processed.

  • Patent number: 5601015
Abstract: Apparatus for continuously making a multilayered, flat workpiece includes a press having with two press belts which are spaced from each other to define a reaction zone for passage of a workpiece in a conveying direction. A pressure element comprised of a pressure plate and a pressure pad defining at least one pressure compartment acts on at least one press belt for exerting pressure onto the workpiece. In order to completely seal the pressure compartment off from the pressure plate and the press belt, the pressure pad is formed by an elastically deformable material such as elastic hoses arranged side-by-side and communicating with each other, or an elastic membrane which extends at a distance to the pressure plate and is tightly secured on its free edge to the pressure plate. Suitably, a slip sheet is disposed between the pressure pad and the press belt.

  • Patent number: 5351877
Abstract: A device and device for manufacturing loops of steel employed in continuous-operation presses to manufacture single-layer or multiple-layer webs of material. To equalize the tension in the ends of a strip before they are welded together to form a loop and to increase the strength of the weld, the strip (10) is laid over drums (2 and 3) and its ends secured in grippers (13) that travel across the drums' axes (4 and 5). The strip is tensioned to a prescribed tension. The tension is maintained while the ends (11 and 12) of the strip are secured by transverse tensioning arms. The tension is released by moving the movable axis to an operating distance. The strip is cut with a blade, the ends of the strip are ground parallel, and are welded together to form a loop.

  • Patent number: 5335592
Abstract: A device for applying pressure to the surface of an advancing workpiece has at least one continuous belt forced against the belt by fluid introduced into an inflatable pad demarcated by part of one of the pressure-application belt's strands, on the side facing the strand by a rectangular slab, and at the longitudinal and transverse edges of the slab in terms of the direction the belt travels in by a sealing strip of plastic or similar material at the edge of the slab and resting against the belt. Such sealing strips are exposed to high pressures and temperatures. To increase their life, solid shapes of a solid lubricant are accordingly embedded at intervals in the sealing strip with an active surface exposed against the associated strand of the belt.
