  • Patent number: 5055421
Abstract: The invention provides a method for making a new semiconductor base material comprising thin layers of amorphous, hydrogenous carbon (a-c:H) with a specific electrical resistance of between 10.sup.1 and 10.sup.8 .OMEGA..cm and a charge carrier concentration (n+p) of between 10.sup.10 and 10.sup.18 cm.sup.-3, respectively at room temperature. The new semiconductor base material can be manufactured in thin layer technology with the application of band processes and exhibits a charge carrier mobility of at least 1 cm.sup.2.v.sup.-1.s.sup.-1.

  • Patent number: 5049582
Abstract: The invention relates to an agent for cytoprotection in the liver, in the pancreas and in the kidney, characterized in that it contains prostacyclin derivatives of Formula I ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is hydrogen or alkyl of 1-10 carbon atoms,A is a --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --, trans-CH.dbd.CH-- or --C.tbd.C--group,W is a free hydroxymethyl group or a hydroxymethyl group functionally modified at the hydroxy group, the OH-group being in the .alpha.- or .beta.-position,X is a CH.sub.2 -group or an oxygen atom,Z is hydrogen or a cyano group,D is a straight-chain or branched saturated alkylene group of 1-5 carbon atoms,E is a --C.tbd.C--bond or a direct bond,R.sub.2 is a straight- or branched-chain, saturated alkyl group of 1-7 carbon atoms,R.sub.3 is a free or functionally modified hydroxy group, and, if R.sub.1 means a hydrogen atom, the salts thereof with physiologically compatible bases, and to a process for the preparation of the aforementioned agents.

  • Patent number: 4479982
Abstract: A lyophobic layer is produced on surfaces of a jet-orifice carrier of a recording device functioning with fluid droplets by generating a uniform and pore-free layer on surfaces of the carrier with the application of high frequency/low pressure glow discharge using a gaseous organic compound, such as octofluorocyclobutane.

  • Patent number: 4354411
Abstract: The shears have a lower blade and an upper blade. The upper blade is reciprocated with respect to the lower blade through a transmission. The transmission includes a first eccentric which is continuously rotated to continuously reciprocate the upper blade over a vertical stroke equal to the throw of the first eccentric. This throw is transmitted to the upper blade through a second eccentric surrounding the first. The second eccentric is quickly rotatable, between two positions. In the first position, the upper blade is always clear of a billet on the lower blade. In the second position, the upper blade cuts the billet during the reciprocation. To ensure that the upper blade only penetrates approximately half the thickness of the billet, the position of the lower blade is vertically adjustable.

  • Patent number: 4204449
Abstract: Flying cropping shears for hot strip for two horizontally spaced pairs of cutters. The cutters are driven by parallel crank drives through connecting members which maintain parallelism of the cutters. Means are provided for selectively bringing the pairs of cutters into and out of the cutting position. In this way only one pair of cutters is operative during rotation of the crank drives so as to crop either the front or the rear end of the hot strip.

  • Patent number: 3961987
Abstract: The invention relates to an electrocatalyst capable of being used, in particular, in anodes of fuel cells with acid electrolyte, and to a process for the manufacture of this electrocatalyst. The electrocatalyst contains at least one ternary metal compound which is composed of one metal of the iron group of the periodic table of elements, i.e. iron, cobalt or nickel, and two different elements of the phosphorus, arsenic, antimony, bismuth, sulfur, selenium and tellurium group, and has semiconducting characteristics. Examples of such ternary metal compounds serving as electrocatalysts are FePS, CoPS and CoAsS. The new electrocatalysts show a high catalytic effect and are insensitive to catalyst poisons.
