Abstract: A unit consisting of a cartridge provided with a base plate displaceable under pressure is used for the program-controlled dosing of paste-form detergents. The orifice of the cartridge leads into the dispensing compartment of the washing machine, more particularly into the region of a spray jet or into a region of high turbulence of the inflowing water. The detergent paste consists of nonionic surfactants liquid at temperature below 10.degree. C. or mixtures thereof and, suspended therein, builder salts and washing alkalis having a particle size in the range from 5 to 40 .mu.m.

Abstract: Detergent in block form can be fed in dosed amounts to the dispensing compartment of a washing machine if the particular detergent block is introduced into a magazine from which it can be fed to the washing machine via a size-reducing unit and optionally a dispersion unit.

Abstract: A packed column with temperature sensors to measure the temperature profile longitudinally and transversely of the column without the temperature profile or flow conditions being affected by the measuring arrangement. The temperature measuring leads (10) are introduced into the upper part of a column section (1) through a single tube (12) and, are routed to the desired measuring points (8) through the peripheral zone between the packing (9) and the column wall (2).

Abstract: A device is disclosed for promoting the dispersion of fuel on atomization in order to permit more complete combustion. The device is installed in the fuel line proximate the fuel atomizer and comprises a core surrounded by a non-conductive sheath so as to provide channels through the device. The core is an alloy comprising over 50% copper, about 25% zinc, about 10% manganese, and over 5% nickel. The core is ridged to generate turbulence in the fuel in order to improve the exposure of the fuel to the core. Further, the configuration of the core may be chosen to provide a large surface area, again to improve the exposure of the fuel to the core.
