Abstract: A method of rendering a document described in a page description language, is disclosed. The document comprising a plurality of images is received. An intermediate graphical representation of the document is formed based on image metadata for the images, the intermediate graphical representation being subdivided into a plurality of tiles. Image data of one of the images is received to render the intermediate graphical representation. A tile of the intermediate graphical representation touched by the received image is identified, in response to receiving the image data. The identified tile is marked for rendering based on a number of the received images for the identified tile compared to a determined number of images contributing to the identified tile, the number of images contributing to the tile being determined using image metadata of the images. The document is rendered using the marked tile.

Abstract: A reusable sequence of display list objects is determined, by extending the repeated sequence to further consecutive display list objects, each occurrence of the reusable sequence being associated with a z-order position in a corresponding display list. At least one display list is divided, at the z-order position of the reusable sequence in the display list, into a plurality of z-bands including a reusable z-band for the determined reusable sequence. A reusable intermediate graphical representation is generated for the determined reusable sequence and a further intermediate graphical representation for at least one other z-band. The further intermediate graphical representation is merged with the reusable intermediate graphical representation in accordance with an order of the z-bands. The page description language (PDL) document is rendered using the merged representations.

Abstract: Described is a method of rendering first page data to a document, by receiving the first page data in a first format, removing a portion of the first page data having a predetermined attribute; storing the removed data in a memory of the rendering device; inserting references to the removed data into the first page data to produce altered first page data in the first format; transmitting the altered first page data to a platform service device; forming second page data in a second format, the second page data containing the inserted references; and receiving, by the rendering device, the second page data from the platform service device, the rendering device rendering to the document the second page data using the inserted references and the copied data stored in the memory of the rendering device.
