  • Patent number: 10569736
Abstract: An emergency seatbelt release apparatus is disclosed for use in a seatbelt mechanism. The release apparatus includes a release actuator coupled to a seatbelt locking member to facilitate selective unlocking of the seatbelt locking mechanism from a biased locked position.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 26, 2015
Date of Patent: February 25, 2020
    Inventor: Rolin F. Barrett, Jr.
  • Publication number: 20160097708
Abstract: A drag sled having a sled body defining a curved front end and a lower surface to which tire samples are removable affixed is disclosed, as are methods of employing the drag sled to calculate coefficient of friction and vehicle speeds. In some embodiments, the tire sample is substantially similar to the tire in question.

  • Patent number: 6715399
Abstract: A firearm includes a moveable bolt assembly that absorbs energy associated with the discharge of the firearm. An energy absorbing mechanism within the bolt assembly may include a dampening spring that provides recoil energy dissipation. With this arrangement, one or more actuators may be provided that are operative to compress the dampening spring with respect to the bolt assembly in response to the discharge of the firearm.

  • Patent number: 5788178
Abstract: A small caliber laser-guided bullet having a self-contained guidance system is disclosed including on-board laser sensors and navigational circuits capable of detecting a laser target signature, determining the deviation of the bullet from an optimum projectory along which the bullet would impact a hostile target, and generating an electrical signal to piezo electric steering control surfaces to effect a change in the course of the bullet. The guided bullet utilizes a plurality of symmetrically-arranged laser sensor elements which are positioned about a longitudinal axis of the bullet. The laser sensor elements function to transmit optical radiation from the laser target beam to photo detector elements housed within the bullet. The electrical signals from the photo detector elements are then amplified and processed by semiconductor logic circuits to produce the functions required by the steering control surfaces to translate the bullet to the optimum trajectory.
