  • Patent number: 4635748
Abstract: A speaker cabinet of the type used in stereo systems. A horizontal wall partitions the interior of the cabinet into an upper portion within which is positioned a full range speaker member, and a lower portion within which is positioned a low range speaker member. A pair of laterally spaced ports are formed in the partition wall to allow sound emanating from the low range speaker to enter into the upper portion of the cabinet. A horn associated with the full range speaker is spaced apart therefrom, in non-attached relation thereto to define a space between the full range speaker and the horn. Sound from the low range speaker and from the full range speaker enters into the space between the full range speaker and the horn and mixes so that the sound emanating from the horn is a full-bodied sound characterized by minimal distortion and substantial absence of unpleasing sounds of the type associated with speakers of the prior art.

  • Patent number: 4553230
Abstract: A platform that is magnetically suspended relative to a base. Magnet members are deployed atop and about the periphery of the base in fixedly secured relation thereto and oppositely polarized magnet members are secured to the bottom and about the periphery of the platform so that a magnetic repulsion exists between such magnet members in sufficient intensity to maintain the platform in suspended relation above the base. Taut guy wires disposed about the respective perimeters of the platform and the base maintain the base and platform in their cooperative dispositions. The base is provided with a plurality of upstanding post members and the platform is provided with a plurality of depending post members. The guy wires are grouped in pairs, and opposite ends of the guy wires in each pair are fixedly secured to different ones of the base and platform post members so that the platform does not slip out of the magnetic field.

  • Patent number: 4429381
Abstract: A straight line tracking turntable sound reproducing system. A conventional rotatably mounted turntable is unconventionally mounted on linear tracks for linear travel toward a substantially fixed position pivotally mounted stylus-carrying tone arm.A servomechanism comprising a sensing device and a motor means controls the rate of linear travel of said turntable so that displacement of said tone arm is minimized. The sensing device detects displacement of the tone arm and signals the motor means to increase or decrease the rate of turntable linear motion as required.Mechanical pinch clutch means are provided to allow manual re-positioning of said turntable to any pre-selected position along its linear path.

  • Patent number: 4135722
Abstract: A cutting transducer is mounted on a radius arm positioned in the same relationship with a turntable as is conventional for the tone arm of a record player. Cross-feed is established by a screw having an axis substantially radial with respect to the axis of the turntable. A nut engaging the screw is mounted on a carrier slidably engaging the radius arm. The drive system is movable vertically and laterally to accommodate the placement and removal of blanks on the turntable.
