  • Publication number: 20210387256
Abstract: Green bodies are safely, economically and efficiently debound in a dual quartz reactor by subjecting them to a steady laminar upward flow of freshly distilled solvent so that the concentration difference of soluble binder at the green body/solvent interface is at all times maximized for optimum binder extraction as per Fick's laws of diffusion. Binder extraction rate is monitored by inline spectrophotometry of the reactor overflow. Following solvent extraction, the residual insoluble binder is thermally extracted without the need to transfer the green bodies to a different vessel.

  • Publication number: 20210197036
Abstract: A golf club head with center of gravity proximate to the club head's sweet spot is disclosed. The golf head is composed of a strike face component made from a high-density material and a club body component made from a lightweight material. This combination improves the golfer's chances to strike the golf ball with the club head sweet spot and to land the ball closer to the hole on the green.

  • Patent number: 9681881
Abstract: An acetabular reamer of the type used in total hip arthroplasty (THA) to prepare a patient's acetabulum for implantation of a hip prosthesis is described. The acetabular reamer consists of a substantially hemispherical cup having a plurality of cutter-hole combinations aligned along one or more loxodromes on the surface of the hemispherical cup. The reamer, complete with integral back plate for connecting the reamer to a driver, is produced to net shape using a molding and sinterwelding technique.

  • Publication number: 20110200478
Abstract: Structural inorganic cellular materials with controlled open porosity are produced by foaming fine particulate-laden aqueous solutions into stable, uniform, dodecahedral froth structures which are dried and sintered by microwave energy or high voltage instant electrical discharge. Porous open cell biomedical implants such as niobium or tantalum acetabular caps with engineered osteoconductive porosity are among the products achievable.

  • Patent number: 7144548
Abstract: Gravitational sag and shape distortion by friction over supporting hardware during binder removal and sintering of green bodies made from sinterable particulate materials are overcome by processing in a supercritical fluid medium at a pressure whereby the density of the medium approaches or equals that of the green bodies.

  • Patent number: 6740287
Abstract: A method of fabricating nanostructure bodies by integrating the steps of attriting precursor nanometer-sized particulate materials, desorbing the exposed surfaces of the attrited nanoparticulates, adsorbing a surfactant on at most 50% of the desorbed surfaces and dispersing the surfactant-coated nanoparticulates in an organic matrix to form a homogeneous thermoplastic compound from which green bodies are shaped, dewaxed and sintered.

  • Patent number: 6693601
Abstract: A micro-electromagnetic device is formed by providing internal channels in a ceramic housing sintered from ceramic materials with high dielectric strength and infiltrating these channels with molten metal. The invention allows the fabrication of arrays of ceramic embedded micro-electromagnetic devices as well as ceramic embedded helical micro-antennas designed for use in the high GHz and THz regions at a fraction of the present cost of manufacturing of such devices and with virtually no restriction to their miniaturization.
