    Abstract: A fluidic processor includes a substrate that receives a fluid and an optical surface-tension gradient inducer. The optical surface-tension gradient inducer is adapted to optically induce a gradient in surface tension of a fluid received by the substrate. Controlling surface tension gradients in a fluid provides a way of manipulating the fluid.
