  • Patent number: 4501930
Abstract: A teleprinter has a printer for printing received or manually entered characters in a row-by-row fashion. The characters of a row are initially stored, and only following the occurrence of a predetermined control signal, for example a "carriage return" signal, are all of the characters of the pending row printed. The teleprinter has a display unit for displaying at least a portion of those characters of a row which have not yet been printed. The display unit may also display at least one preceding and at least one following row in addition to the row being printed.

  • Patent number: 3968324
Abstract: An arrangement for synchronizing one or more input/output devices in teleprinters in the context of a subdivision, necessitated by the use of a five-bit code (CCITT 2) for communications transmission purposes, of the total quantity of characters into letters/figures levels employs a storage device in which the level relationship (letters and figure levels) of the character last transmitted or received is stored. A comparator connected to the storage device compares the level relationship of the stored character with that of a character ready for transmission and in the event of disparity operates, via a logic arrangement, to effect the introduction of a level-related switching symbol.
