  • Patent number: 10462618
Abstract: To provide a possibility to have a near-real-time replay of a pre-empted communication while ensuring that the pre-empting communication is not interrupted, when it is detected that a pre-empting communication is pre-empting a pre-empted communication, the pre-empted communication is buffered to a buffer for a replay, and a safety interval for the pre-empting communication is determined. The pre-empting communication is determined to be ended in response to an expiry of the safety interval after end of the pre-empting communication.

  • Patent number: 9735975
Abstract: An apparatus for providing IP multicast transport may include a processor and a memory. The memory may store exécutable instructions that in response to exécution by the processor cause the apparatus to at least perform opérations including receiving a key for encapsulation of multicast data at a base station, using the key to generate a response to a message indicative of a multicast connection for a particular service received from a gateway device, the base station being joined to a same multicast tree in a multicast-broadcast zone as the gateway device, and establishing the multicast connection with the gateway device via a multicast data path comprising a multicast tunnel associated with the key. • Patent number: 9042345
Abstract: A method may include determining whether each of a plurality of target base stations is capable of providing a fast ranging opportunity to a mobile station served by the serving base station, and, for each of the plurality of target base stations which is capable of providing the fast ranging opportunity to the mobile station, determining an action time after which the target base station can send an uplink map to the mobile station, the uplink map indicating when the mobile station should send a fast ranging request. The method may also include sending a handover message to the mobile station, the handover message indicating whether each of the plurality of target base stations is capable of providing the fast ranging opportunity to the mobile station and indicating the action time after which the target base station can send the uplink map to the mobile station.

  • Publication number: 20140126366
Abstract: A system comprises a subscriber station and a network, the network comprising an access service network and connectivity service network. In an improved communication method an access service network a quality of service profile for a subscriber is received by an anchor gateway of the subscriber. On the basis of the quality of service profile, a first set of transmission control parameters for the subscriber is determined. The anchor gateway applies the first set of transmission control parameters to user data packets addressed to the subscriber.

  • Patent number: 8644274
Abstract: The invention relates to method and structures for mobility policy e.g. in a Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access, WiMAX, based communication. According to embodiments, a method and devices for mobility control of a terminal are provided wherein a mobility policy parameter defines the mobility control of the terminal. The mobility policy parameter preferably is part of a mobility policy or subscription record stored for a subscriber of the terminal in a subscriber data base. The mobility policy parameter may include at least one of an indication of mobility restriction, possibly indicating included or excluded cells or areas etc; an indication of fixed access, indicating a fixed base station to which the subscriber has to request access; nomadicity, indicating that no handover is allowed for that particular subscriber; and restricted mobility limited to a group of base stations or areas.

  • Patent number: 8374631
Abstract: The invention relates to a mechanism for providing location information regarding mobile terminals, especially regarding WLAN terminals. In order that the known mechanism for locating users of a mobile cellular network could be utilized for locating WLAN terminals, a location service request concerning a WLAN terminal is received and routed by the same network elements that receive and route location service requests concerning users of a mobile cellular network. However, in the case of a WLAN terminal the location service request is diverted to a predetermined network element, where the access point currently serving the WLAN terminal is identified. The location information corresponding to the said access point is then determined, and the location information is returned as the location of the terminal. The location of the serving WLAN access point thus represents the location of the WLAN terminal.

  • Patent number: 8364114
Abstract: The present invention provides methods, apparatuses, and systems for supporting emergency calls on a WiMAX access network. According to an embodiment of the invention, a method of providing emergency calling in a WiMAX network is provided. The method includes determining whether a call from a subscriber station (SS) is an emergency call. To enable making an emergency call, the minimum bandwidth required to enable SIP signaling is reserved and required resources are allocated from the access service network gateway (ASN-GW) via a base station (BS).

  • Patent number: 8203989
Abstract: A method involves determining a first content identifier for content and determining a second content identifier for the content, wherein the first content identifier belongs to a first system layer and the second content identifier belongs to the second system layer. The method further involves requesting for delivering of the content by transmitting the first content identifier in a control message, wherein the control message belongs to a second system layer. The content is received via radio interface within a connection, wherein the connection belongs to the second layer. The second system layer is lower than the first system layer.
