  • Patent number: 11829563
Abstract: A method for initiating a safety-critical function in an appliance. The method including receiving a first user input for the safety-critical function via a touchscreen and receiving a second user input confirming the safety-critical function via a first separate input element adjacent to the touchscreen. The operation of the touchscreen can be manipulated externally, directly or indirectly, via wireless communication while a safety-critical function is active. The first separate input element communicates via a wired connection to a control device that is not capable of being manipulated externally via wireless communication while a safety-critical function is active, wherein the control device controls initiation of the safety-critical function. In the method, both the first user input and the second user input are required to initiate the safety-critical function.

  • Patent number: 8723934
Abstract: A projected display, onto the surface of an appliance, of a user interface that can be utilized to make selections regarding the operation of the appliance is described. Where the surface is part of a door of the appliance, the user interface can be configured for display on the top surface, bottom surface, or both, of the door. Such door can be constructed from a transparent material that can be transformed to provide a reflection of the projected display that is visible to the user.

  • Publication number: 20140015814
Abstract: An appliance having a display and a system and method of adjusting a viewing angle of the display based on the position of a door of the appliance is provided. As a door of the appliance is pivotally rotated about an axis, a controller can control a motor to actuate a mounting plate of the display such that the mounting plate is rotated to adjust the viewing angle of the display. The rotation of mounting plate can be determined based on the position of the door of the appliance. A sensor can be implemented to detect the position of the door. The sensor can be disposed on a hinge of the door, in a cabinet of the appliance, or on a door of the appliance.
