  • Publication number: 20200246050
Abstract: An orthopedic screw and plate system in which the screw has a single male thread profile disposed on its shaft. The thread profile is uniform and unitary. The plate provides plate holes. A female thread profile is disposed on the interior of the plate holes, and extends through the thickness of the plate. The female thread profile is configured for matching threaded engagement with the male thread profile on the shaft of the screw, such that when the screw is threadably received through the plate hole and into a bone, threaded engagement between the screw and the plate locks the plate in a desired position relative to the bone. Methods of fixation are also described using the disclosed screw and plate system.

  • Patent number: 9271778
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for screw removal from bone plates used in osteosynthesis. The method includes the steps of: performing an incision in the soft tissue surrounding an implanted bone screw having a screw head inserted in an elongated plate hole of a bone plate; positioning an expandable tip of the apparatus in a portion of the plate hole which is not occupied by the bone screw and in the proximity of the screw head of the bone screw, wherein the expandable tip is in an unexpanded position; and widening the plate hole in a lateral direction essentially perpendicular to a major axis of the elongated plate hole by expanding the expandable tip of the apparatus from the unexpanded position to an expanded position.

  • Patent number: 7713289
Abstract: The device is used for mutually securing or clamping a longitudinal carrier (e.g., a spinal rod) to a bone fixing element (e.g., a pedicle screw). The device includes a body having a channel that is open along its longitudinal axis on one side for receiving the longitudinal carrier. The body has a bore that extends fully through the body and at least partially intersects the channel. The bore is conical in form and has a large opening, a small opening, and an inner thread. The head of the bone fixing element has an outer thread that corresponds to the inner thread. As the fixing element is secured in the bore, it locks the longitudinal carrier to the device.
