  • Publication number: 20030051286
Abstract: A separate section is introduced between the sleeve and the body of any garment such as a jacket, parka, wind shirt, or shirt of any type to isolate, to a considerable extent, the motion of the sleeve from the main body of the garment. This isolation of movement is accomplished by shaping the edges of the separate section and the adjoining edges of the garment body and the sleeve in such a way that excess fabric is available between the sleeve and the body of the garment regardless of which direction the arm is moved. In particular, excess fabric is available to accommodate the volume of the shoulder joint when it moves upward from a rest position as the arm is raised. The result is that the wearer can move the arm over a very wide range of motion with much less movement of the main body of the garment and much less movement of the sleeve cuff up and down the arm than with other methods of sleeve attachment.

  • Patent number: 6279804
Abstract: A strap attachment system having a stiffened flexible strap with a first end anchored to a pouch and a free end configured for positioning around a belt and releasable attachment to the pouch, such as with hook-and-loop fasteners. The stiffened flexible strap is formed from webbing that has the hook portion of the hook-and-loop fastening system attached thereto, preferably by stitching. A stiffener having a shaped end is positioned between the hook portion and the webbing to provide some rigidity to the webbing. The stiffened flexible strap is more easily threaded around a belt to form a connecting loop.

  • Patent number: 5941264
Abstract: A portable bivouac shelter (10) is provided having an end pole (48) retaining on the top sheet (12) through a tunnel (46) for holding the top sheet (12) in a taught and semi-circular configuration. This permits the top sheet (12) to be held away from the bottom sheet (14) in an open configuration for enhanced ventilation. A top pole (54) is also provided across the top sheet 12 near the head end (20). The top pole (54) cooperates with the flexible end pole (48) to form a sloped roof over a user's head and to hold the top and bottom sheets (12) and (14) in a selected degree of an open configuration. Optional mounting snaps (62) in the interior (24) of the enclosure (18) enable a user to reconfigure the opening (26) without leaving the interior (24) of the shelter (10). The shelter (10) thus provides enhanced ventilation while the sloped roof formed by the top pole (54) prevents the entry of precipitation into the enclosure (18). Optional mosquito netting (32) is zippered on the interior of the opening (26).

  • Cap
    Patent number: 4845782
Abstract: A cap has a sizing band adjustable in effective length by the use of hook and pile fasteners which sizing band can also retain a liner in the cap. A hook and pile fastener can be used alternatively to hold earflaps in upward-folded position or, when the earflaps are extending downward, the fastener can be used to attach the ends of a chin strap to the earflaps. A drawstring can be drawn to gather a neck flap and earflaps into snug engagement with the wearer's neck.
