  • Publication number: 20200009221
Abstract: A method of treating a patient suffering from a disease characterized by tissue necrosis by administering to the patient a necrosis inhibitor and/or a Humanin or a derivative of Humanin is provided. The invention further includes a method for prophylactically treating a patient at risk for a pathological condition that is precipitated at least in part by tissue necrosis by administering to the patient a necrosis inhibitor and/or a Humanin or a derivative of Humanin.

  • Publication number: 20050049186
Abstract: A monoclonal antibody to a steroid hormone is used for the isolation from a combinatorial peptide library of a peptide mimicking the biological activity of said steroid hormone. Peptides having estrogenic-like and progestational-like activity were synthesized and assayed for their ability to compete with the respective steroid hormone for binding to the monoclonal antibody and for binding to said steroid hormone receptor. Peptides having estrogenic-like activity were found to be selective to estrogen receptor alpha or beta and thus may have more clinical applications than the non-selective steroid hormone estradiol.

  • Patent number: 5443701
Abstract: An analytical method for determining the presence or concentration of an analyte in a liquid medium is provided in which electrons are transferred from an electrode material of an electrode to the redox center of an enzyme, by the mediation of an electron mediator, whereby in the presence of an analyte the enzyme calalyzed a redox reaction in which the analyte is converted into a product. By measuring either the concentration or the product or the charge which flows in this process, the presence and/or concentration of the analyte in the medium is determined. Either or both of the enzyme and the electron mediator are immobilized on the electrode.
