  • Publication number: 20250043981
Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosure describe a method and a system for estimating OAT for a first device. The method includes receiving, from the first device, a request to obtain an estimate of OAT at a first location of the first device. The method includes identifying a HVAC device(s) equipped with an OAT sensor disposed within a predefined threshold distance from the first device. The method includes obtaining one or more current temperature values associated with the HVAC device(s), wherein each of the one or more current temperature values, associated with a respective HVAC device(s) of the HVAC device(s), is measured at a respective second location of the corresponding HVAC device(s). The method includes estimating the OAT for the first device based on the one or more current temperature values measured at the respective second location of each of the HVAC device(s).

  • Publication number: 20240093893
Abstract: A networked heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) system is provided. The networked HVAC system includes HVAC equipment deployed in a building and an element of HVAC equipment, which is communicatively coupled with the HVAC equipment to collect types of diagnostic information relating to the HVAC equipment. The element of HVAC equipment is normally operable in a normal mode and is selectively operable in a service mode. The normal mode is characterized in that diagnostic information is collected by the element of HVAC equipment at a first rate. The service mode is characterized in that diagnostic information is collected by the element of HVAC equipment at a second rate, which is greater than the first rate.

  • Publication number: 20240089017
Abstract: A method of operating a sensor in wireless communication with a thermostat of a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system including: activating a first sensor antenna and a second sensor antenna to detect a first wireless signal transmitted from the thermostat of the HVAC system; detecting the first wireless signal using the first sensor antenna and the second sensor antenna; determining a first strength of the first wireless signal as detected by the first sensor antenna and a second strength of the first wireless signal as detected by the second sensor antenna; comparing the second signal strength to the first signal strength to determine which is greater; and detecting future wireless signals transmitted from the thermostat for a first selected period of time using the first sensor antenna if the first signal strength is greater or the second sensor antenna if the second signal strength is greater.

  • Publication number: 20230029182
Abstract: Provided are embodiments for a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system for providing sensor information and sensor communication over relay-controlled power line. The system can include a controller of the HVAC system and a first power line converter coupled to the controller. The first power line converter is configured to receive data over a serial bus, convert the data into a communication message for transmission onto a power line, wherein the power line is configured to transmit power and communication messages, and transmit the communication message over the power line. Also provided are embodiments for transmitting and receiving a communication message over relay-controlled power line.
