Patent number: 11581830Abstract: A door closer system is provided that includes a motor, a spring, a reduction gear set, and a rack and a pinion mechanism. The spring and pinion may be coupled to the rack, and the pinion may be selectively coupled to the gear set. The motor may be selectively mechanically coupled to the gear set. The pinion may rotate in a first direction via the rack as the spring is compressed in a second direction opposite the first direction as the spring is expanded. The motor is operable to rotate and act upon the pinion through the gear set, thereby rotating the pinion in the second direction and assist the spring in closing the door.Type: GrantFiled: March 19, 2019Date of Patent: February 14, 2023Assignee: Schlage Lock Company LLCInventors: William P. Dye, Ian K. Heckman, Yong Kwan Lacy, Brendon M. Allen, Brian C. Eickhoff, Ron M. Kielkowski, Dale M. Collins, David V. Toloday

Patent number: 10748360Abstract: An electronic lock system including an access control device configured to provide system instructions, an interface module electrically coupled to the access control device and configured to transmit RF signals in response to system instructions received from the access control device, and a plurality of wireless electronic door locks each configured to wirelessly communicate with the interface module. Each of the wireless electronic door locks includes a controller and a wireless receiver operatively connected to the controller, the wireless receiver including a first antenna defined as a circuit board trace and a second antenna, spaced from the first antenna and defined as a circuit board trace. Each of the first antenna and the second antenna include one of a monopole antenna and a fractal antenna. The controller is configured to switch between the first antenna and the second antenna to receive a wireless signal having a greater signal strength.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 2018Date of Patent: August 18, 2020Assignee: Schlage Lock Company LLCInventors: Brian A. Telljohann, Ron M. Kielkowski, Frank A. Nardelli, Russell L. Steiner
