    Abstract: A retractable surface apparatus (10) is provided that may be positioned on the bottom side of any device such as a portable computer (12), a keyboard, or a drawer of a computer drawer. The retractable surface apparatus (100) includes a casing (18) and a retractable surface portion (16). The casing (18) has an opening formed therein with a first end and a second end. The retractable surface portion (16) includes a top surface, a bottom surface, a first side edge, a second side edge, a front edge, and a back edge. The retractable surface portion (16) is slidably positioned within the opening of the casing (10) such that the retractable surface portion (16) is operable to extend from the opening of the casing (18) through the first end for a predetermined distance to serve as a work surface.
