Abstract: Methods and systems for conveniently and quickly checking-out/checking-in and replicating a document record from/to a server instance of a document database to/from a local replica of the document database are provided. One embodiment provides a computer-implemented method for accessing a document record stored in a server document database system from a client system, comprising: receiving user selection of a document record from a replica database in the client system; querying the server document database system for the document record; determining whether the document record is available for check-out from the server document database system; and if the document record is available for check-out, replicating the document record to the replica database in the client system.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for managing user access to database(s), thereby reducing the time-consuming, repetitive tasks a database administrator must perform to grant user access to one or more databases. Embodiments of the invention also facilitate a database administrator in granting multiple user access of different types to multiple databases. Furthermore, embodiments of the invention provide systems and methods for tracking grants of user access for multiple databases. One embodiment provides a method for managing user access to one or more databases, comprising: receiving an access request for one or more users requesting access to one or more databases; retrieving server information for the one or more databases; adding the one or more users to a user group for the database; and generating an access document for each user.

One embodiment provides a method for communicating between a first system and a second system each having an associated database, in which at least one of the systems is configured to prevent the other of the two systems from directly accessing its respective database. Interfaces are implemented at each of the system, wherein the interfaces extract data from the respective databases of the respective systems as well as from incoming messages from the other system. In one embodiment, the message contains information about a defect found in an application being developed in the second system. Encoding and decoding techniques may be used by the systems to generate and communicate the messages between one another.
