Abstract: A drivetrain for a motor vehicle having an output member that is configured to transmit propulsive rotary power from a vehicle powertrain, a differential having an input pinion, a propshaft that drivingly couples the input pinion to the output member. The differential is configured to drive a pair of vehicle wheels. A tolerance ring is disposed between the propshaft and one of the output member and the input pinion The tolerance ring frictionally engages the propshaft and the one of the output member and the input member such that at least a portion of the propulsive rotary power is transmitted through the tolerance ring.

Abstract: A method includes providing a shaft having a coupling section. The coupling section has a generally cylindrical exterior surface. The method includes applying a coating to the coupling section to form an engaging surface. The method further includes cold-forming the shaft and the coating such that a plurality of protrusions is formed in the engaging surface. The cold-forming of the shaft and the coating is performed contemporaneously.

Abstract: A driveshaft assembly having a first component defining a bore, a second component, which is received in the bore, and a torque ring. The torque ring is received in the bore and disposed between the first component to the second component. The torque ring includes a plurality of teeth that are at least partially elastically deformed so as to apply a radial load to the first and second components to thereby inhibit relative axial and rotational movement between the first and second components. A method for forming a driveshaft is also provided.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for detecting the operating condition of a universal joint in a driveline assembly utilizes a pressure relief valve that is supported by a universal joint cross member. The cross member includes a central body portion with a plurality of radially extending trunnions. A first driveline component supports a first yoke member and a second driveline component supports a second yoke member. Each yoke member cooperates with two opposing trunnions to interconnect the first and second driveline components. An internal lubrication channel is formed within the cross member and is in fluid communication with each trunnion. Seal assemblies are installed within cups mounted to each trunnion member to seal the lubricating fluid within the cross member. The universal joint is operating properly when lubricating fluid that is injected through an external lubrication fitting during service operations, exits via the pressure relief valve.

Abstract: A wallet sized to fit folded into the breastpocket of a jacket for use by pari-mutuel bettors to organize their cash and notes and pari-mutuel tickets. The wallet contains two identical pockets for separating betting cash from winning cash, three identical slots for storing purchased pari-mutuel tickets arranged one above the other by events, a fourth slot spaced from the other three slots for storing winning tickets, a slot for a pad of notepaper, and a sleeve for holding a pen or pencil.
