  • Patent number: 8292572
Abstract: A blower motor assembly for use in a heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system of a vehicle and a method of diverting water are disclosed. The blower motor assembly may include a motor housing, configured to surround internal components of the blower motor assembly, and including a cooling channel/air intake opening. The blower motor assembly may also include a motor support flange extending radially outward from the motor housing and having an upward facing surface, and at least one water diversion vane extending upward from the upward facing surface and extending radially outward in an arcuate shape to divert water off of the flange.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 7036825
Abstract: A casing for a HVAC system in an automobile for moving air comprises a plurality of sections, each of which is molded of plastic material. The sections of the casing are connected and sealed to one another at a plurality of joints. The improvement resides in the tongue having a slot extending into the distal end thereof for splitting the tongue into first and second forks in frictional engagement with the side-walls of the groove. The forks are compressed together by the groove to narrow the slot from top to bottom to retain the tongue in the groove and to seal the sections together.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 26, 2003
Date of Patent: May 2, 2006

  • Patent number: 6418751
Abstract: An accumulator-dehydrator for use in an air conditioning system having a delivery tube that has an unobstructed free end for drawing in vaporized refrigerant and an oil pickup tube for drawing in oil and liquid refrigerant into the hollow delivery tube. The hollow delivery tube includes a venturi portion, which creates the draw necessary to pull the oil and liquid refrigerant into the hollow delivery tube. An equalization hole is also provided to prevent a liquid slug from migrating to the compressor, thereby damaging the compressor.

  • Patent number: 6318116
Abstract: A baffle for use in an accumulator-dehydrator used in an air conditioning system having at least a first and a second evaporator and a compressor interconnected by refrigerant lines containing refrigerant. The accumulator-dehydrator first and second inlets all connected to the evaporators and an outlet is connected to the compressor through the refrigerant lines. The baffle is mounted inside the accumulator-dehydrator at either the first or second inlet. The baffle has a housing with an opening to allow liquid refrigerant and oil discharged from one of the evaporators to enter the accumulator-dehydrator and prevent liquid refrigerant and oil from within the accumulator-dehydrator from re-entering the inlet.
