  • Publication number: 20170073914
Abstract: Systems, methods and devices for converting existing ice resurfacers to reuse collected ice and snow for further ice resurfacing. The systems, methods and devices allows for efficient, clean and environmental friendly ice resurfacing. The conversion includes the modification and/or replacement of the snow dump tank, main water tank and the installing of heating and power systems. This invention is designed for present machines and for incorporation into future manufacturing of ice resurfacers. While reducing the requirement for large amounts of fresh water, the surface water being pre-heated by two commercial hot water tanks, it also reduces the amount of labour and costs associated with ice resurfacing.

  • Publication number: 20160041380
Abstract: Accurate, reliable, and robust laser-based autofocus solutions are presented for through-the-lens microscope applications using slides or micro-titer plates. The laser-based autofocus solutions solve many of the problems that have arisen due to multiple reflective surfaces at varying distances relative to a sample of interest. The laser-based autofocus solutions provide a unique solution to resolve the ambiguity caused by these multiple reflective surfaces by using an image-based approach.

  • Publication number: 20150308669
Abstract: An environmentally friendly illuminating device produces a brilliant light for signaling, directing traffic, illuminating an area, or drawing attention to an event. The device includes a shock resistant and water proof tube that enables passage of both steady and alternating light patterns from a flexible strip of light emitting diodes (LED). By utilizing a battery powered LED, spontaneous chemical reactions are not necessitated for generating the illumination. For example, toxins, smoke, fire, and excessive heat are not emitted. An opaque, flexible tube bends to facilitate stowage. An LED strip provides about 360 lumens of illumination. A reflector cap partially scatters the light. A distal cap and a proximal cap form water tight seals over the ends of the tube. An outer grip is foam to provide good control. A battery housing is watertight to protect the battery power source. A control portion controls power and alternates between lighting patterns.
