  • Patent number: 7731060
Abstract: An outlet tap assembly (1) for dispensing liquid packaged in flexible packaging bags is provided. The tap assembly comprises a tubular outlet member (2, 32) having a bore (8) therein, a tap (5, 6) at one end for controlling the flow of liquid through the bore, and a spike (3) at the opposite end for penetrating a plastic packaging bag. At least one aperture (4) communicates with the bore towards the inner end to allow liquid to enter from a bag into the bore. An endless clamping surface (11, 31) encircles the outlet member between the aperture and tap and a clamping element (12, 30, 35) having an endless clamping edge or surface (13) is movable axially on the outlet member so as to cooperate with the clamping surface on the outlet member to operatively clamp material of a flexible packaging bag therebetween. The outlet tap assembly has resilient means (16, 21, 26, 29, 33, 36) for urging the clamping element axially into engagement with the clamping surface on the outlet member automatically.

  • Patent number: 7080758
Abstract: A primary panel (10) is provided for cooperation with a liquid filled flexible packaging bag during withdrawal intermittently of the contents thereof. The primary panel has at least an operatively forward zone (9) adapted for attachment to a base (3), generally the bottom of a box (1), in a relatively fixed position with respect to the base. A normally inclined zone (10) attached to the forward zone is adapted to flex between a position in which it is generally parallel to the base under conditions corresponding to a full flexible packaging bag and positions in which it is inclined relative to the base under conditions corresponding to a partially filled or substantially empty flexible packaging bag. The inclined zone is resiliently biased relative to the forward zone towards said inclined position.

  • Patent number: 6554164
Abstract: A support unit is provided for a liquid filled flexible packaging bag having a length, width, and thickness, and which enables such a bag to be stored horizontally while enabling liquid contained within the bag to be withdrawn as and when required. The storage unit (1) has a support panel (2, 12, 14, 19, 26, 42) for a liquid filled flexible packaging bag which is adapted to support the packaging bag in an inclined orientation at least after a proportion of the initial content of the bag has been removed. The support panel corresponds generally in plan view to the length and width of the packaging bag and is usually located inside a flat shape of box (6, 46) capable of storage on a shelf of low height. The support panel may be arranged to move from a horizontal position to a progressively more inclined position as liquid is removed from the bag. A liquid supply system is also disclosed.
