    Abstract: A process for the preparation of a high molecular weight, linear polyesteramide comprising the capping of a linear, hydroxyl-ended polyester by reaction with a diaryl ester of a dicarboxylic acid of the formula:AOOC -- (--X--).sub.n -- COOBwherein n is zero or 1: X is a divalent aromatic group, and A and B each independently stand for a monovalent aryl group of 6 to 20 carbon atoms, in the presence of a catalyst, and reaction of the capped polyester with a diamine to form a polyesteramide.
