  • Publication number: 20070221279
Abstract: A self supporting header has a horizontally extending header pipe of fiberglass reinforced plastic with a horizontal axis and a flange of fiberglass reinforced plastic connected to an outer surface of the header pipe by at least one web and extending along at least part of the horizontal extent of the header pipe. The at least one web extends vertically from at least one of the top and bottom of the header pipe and is connected to the flange. A reinforcing member or material is embedded in at least one of the flange and the at least one web and that has a greater modulus of elasticity than a modulus of elasticity of the fiberglass reinforced plastic of the header pipe reinforces a cross-section of the header for increasing the self supporting strength of the header. The reinforcing member may be made of metal or a carbon composite material.

  • Patent number: 6375601
Abstract: An exercise apparatus for maintaining a resilient exercise component such as an exercise ball in a position elevated above the floor or support surface. In a preferred embodiment, the body of the apparatus may be a frame or may be a molded structure or may be an inflatable structure having a seat area which receives and supports the ball. The support may be provided with rungs which provide gripping locations to assist the user while exercising. The body or frame is configured to allow the user to assume an exercise position closely adjacent the seat which supports the exercise component. A wide range of stretching, conditioning, and therapeutic exercises may be performed using the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 6315896
Abstract: A disposable waste collector is formed by attaching the open end of a porous tubular bag to a rigid ring. The waste collector is positioned in a drain opening below the entry grate so that all fluids passing through the entry grate must pass through the tubular bag. Solid particles in the fluid stream are trapped in the tubular bag as waste water passes therethrough. The waste collector may be withdrawn and replaced when filled.

  • Patent number: 6228001
Abstract: An exercise, strengthening and therapy device for the hand, wrist and arm. An elastomeric disk-like body has a plurality of spaced apart apertures for receiving the thumb and fingers of the user. A convex enlargement extends from at least one surface of the body positioned inward of the apertures. The enlargement may be spherical, semi-spherical or other curved configuration. In use, the device is inserted over the ends of the fingers and the thumb. In a preferred embodiment the device is integral, and in another the components may be disassembled and used separately. Exercise, strengthening and therapy benefits are achieved by flexing the fingers against the elastic resistance of the body and by alternately compressing the elastomeric projection within the palmar surface and fingers.

  • Patent number: 5580342
Abstract: A support device for performing shoulder rotation exercises, of a shape such that it rests against and on top of the upper shoulders of a typical person and passes under and partially around both upper arms of the person. The shape is also such that it supports the upper arms of the person in a position somewhat below and forward of the shoulders of the person, and restricts the upper arms of the person from moving forward, backward, or downward, but allows the upper arms of the person to rotate. The shape is also such that it does not rest against or cause force to be transmitted to the neck of the person.
