Abstract: A valve assembly for controlling the flow of fluid has a housing defining a valving chamber accommodating a transversely movable valve plate. A manually operated lever connected to the valve plate with a rod is operable to move the valve plate between open and closed positions. A resilient member mounted on the housing within the chamber surrounds the fluid outlet opening in the chamber. Rails secured to the housing cooperate with the valving member to hold the valving member in sealing engagement with the resilient member when the valving plate is in the closed position. The valving plate may be connected with a remotely located actuator lever mounted on a tubular member secured to the valve housing.
